uTorrent beta app hits Android

Ooooh this is sweet!

Once used an app called 'tTorrent' and it was so absurdly slow that I eventually gave up on it. With trusty uTorrent I'll hopefully be able to leech from the wifi at campus now :p

Not sure if such details are out yet, but does anyone know if the uTorrent app can be linked to your pc's uTorrent in some way?

Well you can use the official uTorrent remote which links to your desktop client via the webui.

I wonder how some of these companies get away with copyright laws and others don't?!
Not sure what uTorrent has to do with copyright laws?

In what way will they be linked and how do I do this?

Sounds like Monk has more experience with this, so he may correct me if I'm wrong. You can connect to your uTorrent PC running at home/office/wherever through a web interface on your Android phone. You can add torrents that way.

I haven't actually set that up, so my response is theoretical :P

On the uTorrent desktop client there is an option under the configuration menu to set up the web interface. Go there set up your account. Then you can download the uTorrent Remote app on your phone which connects to your desktop client through the web interface. Or you can just remote through your browser from the web client.

Believe it or not, a lot of open source and freeware programs come available using torrents eg: various versions of Linux, Ubuntu, Gimp, etc... are freely available for download via torrenting due to the high speeds you get. :)
