"We get too much crap for not being innovative", reckons DICE

I thoroughly enjoyed Mirror's Edge. Not only was it a fresh concept the art style was truly awesome. Who knew that a backdrop of white and a few primary colours could convey so much.

Well Mirrors Edge was HORRIBLE.........

Mirrors Edge was propably the best game to come out of Dice in a while, its better than Both bad company games and BF3 put together.

Unique take on the first person genre, gun play and movement. Its unfortunate that the short-sightedness that think, like you do, its sales where less than stellar. Lending further credence to the notion that gamers dont want something different and are perfectly content with more of the same.

Mirrors edge was something very different and fresh. I love the game and its miles ahead of EAs cookie cutter release average. I'm still following the internet for any news on the mythical sequel, which now has a frostbite 2 engine apparently.
Anyone else getting annoyed with the demand for 10 games that are essentially the same thing but with a new number on the title?

LOL you okes are on attack mode.......

Look I too love something different im tired of COD 99 and BF77 in fact I dont even play FPS anymore

BUT personally then......I didnt like mirrors edge

Did you get nauseous from playing?

Your mistake was calling the game horrible. You found it horrible, but that does mean the game is actually bad and people called you out on it.

That's why they had that blue dot in the middle for. Its was meant to prevent motion sickness.

On a separate note, objective views vs subjective opinions, not easy to tell the difference from one sentence.

Yeah that helped for some people. I know several people who still got crippling motion sickness from it. The motion sickness is one of the main reasons alot of people didn't like it since they simply felt sick playing it, which is why I asked.

I think on a side note..Almost all developers these days follow the recipe of old..Innovasion doesn't always bring success, its also the reason we see "new" releases of COD, BF, NFS each and every year. They are scared to innovate so they desecrate.

They have good reason to be scared, new ips have a less than stellar track record with the gaming public.

Which is really sad. Stuff like Mirror's Edge and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West was really cool to play and their concepts/stories were fresh. New, interesting games that looked amazing.

I own CoD4 and BFBC2, which are the only ones that I need in their respective series, as the rest are kind of "same-old".

Well, maybe it's that they expect niche titles to sell too well? I always get the feeling big name publishers aren't happy with sales unless it recoups their losses 5 times over.

Or that developing games has become too expensive? Do we really need games that cost $100 million to make? Or the elaborate marketing campaigns these guys go on?

Good points made here, ultimately EA is a business and shareholders focus on the bottom line, net profit.
Then again aren't the majority of gamers casual in which case they aren't as focussed on game play vs entertainment? Those are the guys forming the main share of the market. The people who want game play innovation are those guys complaining, ultimately the smaller market share.
