Yeah But your taxes are in Rand, so if the rand is weaker to the pound than the Aussie dollar for me, buying a ticket here, in pounds, it should be cheaper since less of my pounds are needed to fill up the taxes in rand than it does in Aussie $. What it means is that your airport taxes are so high compared to Australia that it nullifies the exchange rate making SA a particularly unpopular Vacation Spot.
To give you an idea, for me to buy 1 ticket from here to Cape Town is £1200 return over christmas. If I buy 2 tickets for my Parents to come here its only £1700.
This. I've heard that the Airport taxes in SA are some of the highest in the world.
