Howdy,

i am looking into getting a new headset for rAge and thought i would give a shout out to the people who might know more than anyone about this in regards to personal experience sooooooooo

what would you guys recommend as a good Gaming Headset, ideally i would like wireless as i currently have a wireless headset and they are nice, but they aren't really ideal for long gaming sessions.

i was looking at Logitech G930 which look very nice, but they have been around for a while so maybe there is something better or not, whatever.

any thoughts would be great, thanks :)

same here looking for new headphones that will not bust my wallet. Wireless is one of my options as well but i will set for wire as well.

Noise cancelling ROCCAT KAVES analogue sound and for gaming they are great. Not good idea to have those wireless ones they can dissapear quickly at lans.

Where is Cranky now to back me up.....

haven't heard good things about Roccat to be honest, but that's hearsay so i'll take a look, thanks

Have mine for 2 years and no probs with it........

but eish, once you go wireless, you can't go wired, i can just see myself getting up to go to the bathroom/kitchen/anywhere bloody else and getting my head yanked back cause i forgot about the wire hahaha

i find it hard to believe that that the G930 (which first came out in 2010) are still the best wireless headsets for it's price!?!
i would have thought some other brands would have at least tried to compete, yes there are other wireless gaming headsets, but not for the G930's price point.

I'm recommend the Corsair Vengeance 1500. They have really good quality and are very comfortable. Plus I'm also not interested in throwing out R1500 for an equivalent logitech set and its still cheaper than the CM storm.

You can also get the wireless 2000 option for about R1200 from landmark. The wired 1500 goes for around R800.

hmmmmm they look very nice, specially for that price, just 2 things, i take it they can still work when plugged in to the cable right? and does the headset have any programmable keys on it, i ask this cause i like to map my PTT button to the headset so if i'm in another room, a can still chat on mumble.

i am looking into this headset as i type this, so i will probably already answer my own questions, but if you already know, you know what to do :)

I really can't answer anything about the wireless option except that its just an upgrade from the 1500. They say that you can charge and play but I don't see anything about programmable keys.

The 1500 only has a in line control for volume and the mic but the cable is ridiculously long so I can walk across my room easily.

yup, basically i have to decide between the G930 or Vengeance 2000, both great the top reviews all of the web.

Vengeance 2000 -
Pros - better sound, cheaper, newer
Cons - No programmable keys

G930 -
Pros - programme keys
Cons - more expensive, been around for 2 years now (the model, not the actual headset haha)

aarrrgggg what to do, the ONLY thing swaying me is the programmable keys, i need to push to talk cause i am a heavy breather (thanks rugby for messing up my nose).......that's what she said :P

but the corsairs look so cool and are cheaper! :S

maybe i should just learn to use Mumbles voice amplification settings and set it to cancel out my stalker breathing hahaha

+1 for the Vengeance 2000 (I have a 1500 it's so awesome with 7.1/5.1 even 2.0 Stereo is awesome in games and anime)

Just set your voice activation detection threshold a bit higher, I do it so when I cough or sigh it does not pick it all up.

Well I'm always looking at return so I turn to corsair generally. The mic also mutes when you flip it up so that might help supplement the software alternative to the breathing.

Had a wireless headset, but it sucked ekse. Had a poor infrared receiver.

Grown used to corded headsets.

Infra-red is probably the worst wireless technology of our modern times, yet infra-red photography is a crucial part of GIS and Satellite imaging. Blue Tooth is a standard now.

dude, i'm using this right now, http://www.plantronics.com/us/product/audio-995 - they are actually pretty good, just can't recharge while in use and can get a little uncomfortable after a while, other than that no complaints

haha i can just imagine some of the okes with proper headsets going mental at what i use at the moment :p
