Any MMO's worth getting into?

Depends if you like more PvP or PvE type rpgs, Asian influenced or not, old style or new style, etc etc. GW2 to me is a bit too anime-like and too much PvP but that is a personal thing. I play a ton of Dungeons and Dragons Online (almost 2 years) and still love it. I'd say try a couple and see what you like. Latency wise, it's not a major issue with anything from 150-300 as the average.

Dude.....

I need to show u -_-

lolz what have I done again!

Bolded points - uh whut?

I haven't even touched PvP in that game - I'd love to hear your reasoning for calling it too much PvP. As for the anime reference - I don't get that either - especially not when you go and compare it to Aion, TERA and the upcoming Blade & Soul.

MH hates Anime, so if it just looks like it could be Animey he avoids.

Compare where? IN MY OPINION it's anime'ish and the others are too in varying degrees IN MY OPINION. The mobs and art style relays that to me, not anyone else that I could worry or care about. And I hate all PvP so if an mmo has any, it has too much. Again, to be clear, IN MY OPINION and stated as such :)

Anime (アニメ?, [a.ni.me] is a style of animation originating in Japan, characterized by colorful graphics and often featuring themes intended for an adult audience. The word is the Japanese abbreviated pronunciation of "animation". The intended meaning of the term sometimes varies depending on the context.

In my opinion GW2 is more western than anything else.

From my personal perspective - it's totally Western. I will compare it with TERA and Aion specifically because those two MMOs were styled in a fashion resembling anime. I don't see the resemblance at all given that GW2 has its own very distinctive style.

Using the PvP as an argument is pointless because it is a completely seperate subset of the game and you can therefore choose not to be involved in it whatsoever. You can't even accidentally bump into PvP.

But regardless - if you're going to use appearance and the distant presence of PvP to entirely avoid a game then nothing I say will change your mind - so I won't bother.

Seriously Shadow (and any others), stop getting your panties in a knot, look at my original post - I gave a pretty damn generic paragraph of info. Nothing in there saying don't play this or that, just my fucking opinion.

"I'd say try a couple and see what you like." - take note. I'm not attacking your precious game so step back and relax ffs.

GW2 PvP is very so much separated from the PvE experience that you wouldn't know it existed unless you went looking for it. It's also very, very far from anime influence.

You're missing out on a great PvE experience by seeing it as a Asian style PvP game, which it is not.

No one said you're attacking it, but your statement is a misrepresentation of what the game actually is. Even though you say its a personal opinion it's still wrong.

Tends to happen when all someone can take out of everything you wrote is the word "fuck" and "Pay-to-Play" vs "Free-to-Play" instead of the teeny tiny little argument behind that about how WoW is a behemoth that only caters to one real type of personality.

And, when that happens, there's little point left to rational intercourse.

To be fair, you are generalizing a lot here. I've actually been strongly considering resubbing to WoW recently, and it's certainly not because I want to enter any dick-measuring contests with anyone. Neither do my friends who play the game have that personality. In fact, I've actually very rarely encountered that attitude in-game, tbh. Played for a few weeks at the start of the year and it was actually a rather positive experience. Only encountered assholes 2 or 3 times, and that was mostly in dungeons. One time was my own fault because I chose the tank role as a retribution paladin and thus turned the entire dungeon into a disaster for everyone.

In general, I've actually found the WoW community to be pretty decent for a community of that size.

(Also, WoW has a giant subscriberbase compared to other MMOs. There's more dicks because there's more people. Put 11 million subscribers into GW2 and you're going to say the same thing about GW2)

Also, I've downloaded the game, I just have to actually start playing sometime. It's a bit difficult as I'm limited to a crappy netbook, hence why I'm currently playing Aion, which is very crap-computer friendly.

Hey, I have 3 guildies who have crappy netbooks :p You can try grab the low-res client and have a look see, it's extremely easy on the low end if it has to be and tons of options to turn stuff off or on as needed by the available specs.

Yeah, I got it through Steam and apparently the Steam client is the hi-res one. Will probably redownload it sometime to get the low-res. Only thing is that Steam often has nice sales on the expansion packs/content.

With panda mania hitting soon, GW2's population is going to take a big drop, its how the MMO scene works. Some will stay behind and they will be the real community.

Interested to see how things change soon.

Yeah, don't see myself leaving GW2 any time soon and WoW has zero interest for me.
