Dude - that was an awesome add. Well done. The main difference for me between Facebook and online forums is that I have friends on Facebook. lol. (flame all you want, look at my "troll rating" and it proves my point). I totally love forums, but I take some forums more seriously than others. For example, and I know you won't believe this, on the forum where I discuss stuff about my car (brand and model) - I'm actually quite respected by the community
The negative side about forums is that you have "clicks" like you do in high school or any other crowded environment (like prison) where the people who do not somehow "conform" to the views of the masses on the forum get shunned, boo'ed and labelled as trolls. On Facebook and Twitter - you're actually FREE to be yourself and raise YOUR views.
For me:
Twitter / Facebook = sharing random thoughts and being creative without some "mob" waiting to burn you at the stake.
Online Forums = get information about specific topics or problems. beware the trolls.
I actually don't think it's fair to compare Facebook and Twitter to forums. The information exchanged on the 2 mediums is completely different. It's also not fair to say that forums are "more mature", because let's be honest here - there are some GEMS on this very forum to disprove that disposition.
Actually, it's my opinion that some people use forums, rather than Twitter, simply because they don't know how to compress their insults into the limited amount of characters that apply to Twitter posts. And if those same people portrayed the same persona on their Facebook profiles as they do on some forums, they simply wouldn't have any friends on their profile (except for that hot chick who just friended you - it's a bot, btw.)
