Battlefield 3 PC discussion thread MK II

Need Help PLEASE!!! I've been playing bf3 for few months now without any problems, yesterday i bought premium and downloaded Armored Kill, tried to connect to any ak server, start to load, then get a disconnected from server error, thought it might be the server then tried one of the old bf3 servers/maps and same thing happens, now I can't connect to any server, when I do get in ping is over 1000, ping was between 50-100 yesterday before armored kill install. #$%@!!! I've also skipped/paused CQ download, is it necessary to download qc first? Really don't want to re-download the game/patch seeing hat I only have few gigs bandwidth per month.

Yep,you need everything downloaded.

You can also just get the updated BF3 folder from a friend.

What's the main armored kill servers

You will have to search for them during the eve, Most guys is also trying to Play GW2, Torchlight 2 and Borderlands 2. I don't have much tome these days but I try and play all of them at least once per week. Think it is going to be T2 tonight.....

gees, i think i'm goning to not play BF3 until Friday @ rAge, lately my anger threshold is down to nothing, i keep getting the red mist when i play which makes me do stupid things that get me killed :S

must........calm ....... down..........woosaa woosaa

i reckon it's DoTA 's fault :D

LOL and then this swearing thing our entire Sentinel team would be redcarded in the first few minutes lol, maybe for the better that we withdrew :P

Going to give BF3 a rest for a bit.

@kurike,add me when you get MWO up and running.

yeah dude, i will..........when i get better haha i feel like a noob at the moment, i seem to stay in the fight but don't do much damage :(

noob question, but when are you able to buy ur own mech and weapons? my durban brain can't seem to buy one , slots are just empty and i don't like how the trial mechs are setup

Busy downloading the patch.

Is armored fury worth it now?
if you like huge , open maps, with lots of vehicles then hell yes, it's an awesome change up from CQ which can get too twitchy

the snow map is just down right gorgeous

Can you guys help me get better frames per second please?

I'm running BF3 on a Dell XPS L702X. Now when I run Fraps on it, I'm getting less than 30fps the whole time, WTF? Is this thing really that bad? I turned everything onto low and it didn't even change.

What can I do?

You have to play like 20 games and win to unlock your first mech (which is the commando),after that you can either save up for a better light like the Jenner or a medium like the hunchback or Centurion.

The trail mechs have issues which new players need to overcome to learn how the mechs works.

Here are a few tips:
Weapon groups, you can assign weapon groups with the arrow keys and right ctrl, use up and down to select the weapons and left and right to select the group then use right ctrl to assign the weapon to that group.
You can press backspace on a weapon group to switch it to chainfire.

Mech tips:
Jenner:Add all you lasers to weapons group 1 and 2 and put weapons group 1 in chainfire,if you are brawling then use the chain fire group and if you get in a good spot like the back of the enmy you can fire group 4 which will alpha strike.

Atlas:
Big ass mech, stay near other friendlies, your job is to draw away fire from your team as the atlas can soak up allot of damage to it's front armor. It has extremely weak back armor so if you are surrounded by light put your back against a wall.
Use the large lasers for medium range and put them in chain fire, the AC20/10 is a close range weapon and has limited ammo so only use it under 270m and when you know you are going to hit,SRM are also close range weapons and you can group them together with the AC20/10 if you want, the LRM's are long range weapons. If you see a enemy on the map then look at it and then press R,your missiles will begin to lock on and when they are locked on you can fire (make sure to stay locked on for the entire flight of the missiles,do not fire your LRM's under 200m as they do no damage under it)

Catapult PPC:
This is a long-medium range support unit,do not fire your PPC's under 100m as they will do no damage, stick close to heavies and target the weapons of enemies (if you have a ammo based weapon then you always target the core but if you have weapons with unlimited ammo you can afford to take your time and pick your enemies apart piece by piece)The machine guns only work against unarmored parts.

Hunchback:
I haven't played with the hunchback yet but as far as i can tell it's a close range brawler mech with enough armor, protect your right torso because if it's blown up you lose most of your weapons.

These are the basics of the trail mechs at least, always stick close to large friendlies if you drive a medium mech or larger, also check your team at the beginning if you are a light mech.if you see a catapult with large missile pods then you can scout behind enemy lines so it can rain death on your enemies. You get 2000cb for every enemy hit by your friendlies if you targeted them first.

We should make a group later, lots of SA players in the Beta.

Busy downloading the patch.

nice, very good tips, i already knew about the weapon groups (after my first failed game.....overheat anyone hahaha) but the chain strike is something i did not knowmaybe i should team up with some of my clannies, cause every game i have played so far, half my team is dead by the time i know whats what haha
