South African ISPs and copyright infringement notices - the details

Well, based on the article below (I know it's oldish :|) The Wireless markets bear a larger portion of subscribers compared to the ADSL providers.
(Source http://mybroadband.co.za/news/broadband/13240-Broadband-War-The-winners-and-losers.html , although that was in 2010)

Thus I would think that the ones without copyright infringement would be the more appealing choice, although I don't think subscribers know about this kind of information before they sign up...

Maybe theres a reason why many of the wireless broadbrand operators don't send copyright notices...?

Regardless though, I think these copyright notices help the ones who care about copyright, but to everyone else it's just another piece of paper that should be chucked in the bin .
 
The netter question should actually be, what steps other than sending you an email have any ISPs taken? Banned accounts? Fined? Arrested?
 
As far as wireless providers not giving notices, I don't think it's too viable to use wireless to download anything that has a copyright to break. (AKA, games and movies.)
 
If you get the first notice, will your internet be cut off for a while, or must you get a number of notices before it being cut off?

The first paragraph leads me to believe that they ask the individual to stop once, then only cut it off if they don't comply within a reasonable amount of time.

This is a pretty ignorant thing to say. You are aware that they can only do what Telkom allows them to do, right? Can't exactly provide users with first-world prices when they're being charged third-world prices by Telkom.
