rAge 2012 - Who's going?

Have to agree on most of what you said. Put it this way, if I had to have stood in that queue I would have left immediately and gone to the pub. By the time we left at about 1:30 it was starting to get ridiculous inside. It wasn't fun. In future you have to get there early, else you will end up fighting the crowed the entire time. I want to go to the LAN next time, I think that will be awesome fun.

The lan is really the only saving grace but I still think having to pay R350 is an absolute joke.
All in all, you're better off having a braai with some mates and gaming together as a group, sure there won't be as much people but you'll still have a blast, get drunk, take a shower and sleep in a proper bed.

What about the CTICC here in Cape town? I think it would be big enough, maybe just maybe :P

It would be worth the travel to catch the show in Slaap Stad. See some old friends over supper. Hmm. Sounds good to me.

They won't move it, although I agree the dome is a kak venue, they do not have enough retailers/displays/stands to justify a move.
The dome with its crappy 18 000 cap isn't quite big enough but any larger venue will be too big and they'll have to fork out more $$.

If you think about it, you pay R60 (Day pass) to get stuck in traffic, park in shitty parking, see things you've already seen or can see online, standing in a queue to buy a piece of hardware only to find the cash point not working or taking forever to work, so you save R100 on a item but you waste hours of you're life getting said item..my time is worth more than R100 lol..The list goes on..."whistling:

So invest that R60 and have a beer with some mygaming peeps sometime?

The Dome is a lot bigger than the convention center, I think Nasrec should be the next move.

Really? I found this on their websites:

The Dome said:
Under the roof of one of Johannesburg’s most-recognised landmarks, you’ll find South Africa’s premier multi-purpose venue. From its huge 11,000 square metre arena to its private hospitality suites, the Coca-Cola dome is the most flexible entertainment space in Africa.

It can be transformed into whatever you need it to be – whether you want to launch a product, throw a year-end celebration, host a banquet for 500 to 5,000 guests, attract 19,000 fans to a top international concert, or hold an exhibition that draws in a record number of visitors – the Coca-Cola dome is truly unrivalled in its capability to host any event.

Sandton Convention Centre said:
The 12-storey building has more than 22 000 m² of meeting, exhibition and special event space. Multiple events can be staged simultaneously on four levels and up to 10 000 visitors can be accommodated at any one time. Room capacities range from a 10-seat function room to the Pavilion, which can cater for 4 500 cocktail guests.

There are 26 escalators in the two escalator wells of the centre, so delegates can enter and exit the building quickly and efficiently. The Sandton Convention Centre is surrounded by nearly 11 000 parking bays, situated in three big parking arcades. The security system is such that the building can be evacuated in a matter of minutes, should the alarm system go off.

I still think Nasrec is the way to go dude. Those halls will be perfect for an expo.

I dunno the convention centre would also rock. You're in the middle of Sandton, have direct access to Gautrain and can separate the exhibition onto 12 different floors, with a whole floor dedicated to the LAN.

You make a valid point, I think that makes the most sense and at least they could space out the lan a bit better as well :D

Yeah those are some good points. Gautrain would be a bonus, since I travel from Pretoria and having the LAN okes out of the way would be awesome.
