Earth-sized planet discovered in Alpha Centauri system

According to astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, if we sent our fastest-ever space probe to Alpha Centauri, the Sun's nearest star system, the journey would take 75,000 years.

Sad to think that in our lifetime we may not see that breakthrough in technology needed to explore the stars. Considering how the human race is dealing with a ton of petty problems instead of working together, I don't think we are collectively ready as a species for such an endeavour.

That's why you travel at the speed of light, time slows down at speed essentially so you can't breach the speed of light . Thus if you travel at the speed of light then one day there could theoretically take 1000 years earth time so you would only need 75 years aboard the ship. Maybe an extra 5 years for acceleration and deceleration.

Theoretically

I was thinking the same thing. Our only hope is that technology makes mind blowing leaps forward to enable meaningful space travel. Who knows.
