Disney takes Lucasfilm for $4 billion

I think this is actually good news.

Look at what Disney has done with Marvel since acquiring them. Then consider that you couldn't really take Lucasfilm any lower than they are at the moment, and you have a win win.

I agree. I saw a comment somewhere where a guy said as long as George Lucas isn't writing or directing Star Wars movies, that can only be something good.

Is that your Jar Jar binks impersonation? o_O

No he always talks like that. :P

I'm not sure how this one will go.. Disney isn't too highly concerned about having a fanbase that consists of technical folk. I like the Marvel movies like the next dude.. but they're fairly mindless and shallow.

Granted, Episode I - III will be much better if Disney had to do them. But I'm thinking of the Clone Wars series, and all the other things Lucas Films made for they're geeky fans.

Maybe now we will get the Star wars we should have gotten. For first iteration I will say they should not focus on jedi at all, go with the mandelorian war or the imperial royal guard aftermath.

Maybe.. but in 420 films, Disney has never made a fanbase like Star Wars, or even handled it. They seem to be keen on beating dead horses, and really bad at making sequels.

What about a good movie, and some "after movie specials" for the fans? You can only fit that much in 3 hours of film. Then release the Mandelorian war as a series, or book?

Oh come on now. Disney have Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck and ... okay, maybe it's not the same epicness as Star Wars or Star Trek.
