Halo Reach and Cell C dongle

Hi guys,

I've been having issues with my Cell C USB stick and playing Halo Reach.
The problem is that for some reason the NAT is Closed:mad: sometimes and for the past couple of days, the Upload speed has been very slow causing me to disconnect and getting temporarily banned for 'Quitting':wtf: as a result.

I need to resolve this issue as soon as possible as Halo 4 is released next week and I don't want to sit with the same issue.

Any help would be appreciated guys.

Assuming you're playing through some sort of internet connection sharing setup with a laptop, there's no way to configure port forwarding, so there's no getting around that closed NAT.

I'd suggest buying a router that can take a USB dongle, which would solve this problem. Having a closed or even moderate NAT on Xbox LIVE is a one-way ticket to frustration.

Azi nailed it. I use a TP Link Wireless AP thing at home and it supports USB modems without too much drama.

Thanx for the advice guys.

Your assumption is correct Azi. I'll have a look into Routers that supports USB modems.

Are you using the Tp-link 300Mbps Wireless N USB Adapter James?

The model number is: TL-MR3420. It's branded as TP-Link 3G/3.75G Wireless N Router".

This is by no means the only option out there, so shop around. All i'm saying is it worked for me on the few occasions my ADSL was down and I still wanted my Wi-Fi / cabled connections to work.

Good luck!

Thank you for the help James.

I shopped around a bit yesterday and could find 150Mbps router at a reasonable price. The model that you have is in a class of its own actually. If reliable, that would be my choice as well. I found it here

Hey hello, I am thinking of buying a USB dongle and CellC's 200gb offer. So I was wondering how gaming with CellC Edge Or 3g is like cuz I dont wanna buy it and then its rendered useless cuz of my lack of CellC's "4G". :p

Hi PorkChop.

My suggestion would be to go the ADSL way. Gaming is possible with the Cell C package, but streaming videos and downloading is the only thing worth while for me. If I knew the whole "Whooosh" business was just their selling point and not the real experience, then I would have gone ADSL as well.

I'm not saying that gaming is not possible at all. I'm just saying that it's just not good enough, compared to ADSL.

Hello, thanks for the advice but where I live ADSL/DSL isn't an option neither is Contract Deals thats why I want the prepaid cellc offer

Gee now that I think of it all that data won't go for nothing :D I haven't updated my 360 since I bought it. Haven't updated my 3DS since last december not to mention World Of Warcraft Patches :p

Yeah, there's always a catch. Just schedule your downloads for that time. I think something like this could solve that issue. That being said, I use Firefox for all downalods.

Reminds me of the bad old days when I had an ISDN line (essentially dial-up) and used Telkom Call More, which was something like R7 flat-rated for calls between 7PM and 7AM weekdays, and all weekend from Friday evening to Monday morning.

I would set my alarm for 6.45AM and stagger half-asleep to my PC to shut down before the watershed. Luckily ISDN was pretty stable, and it served me well most weekends.

Sweet that will work, the only problem is waking up and updating my 360 12'o'clock in the morning then going to sleep then waking up AGAIN a few mins before 5 to switch the thing off again

@James
My body is allergic to waking up before 8am :)
