Doom3 BFG edition is brilliant!!

Hi guys got Doom 3 BFG edition on xbox360 on monday and must say I am quite impressed.I played the orginal on pc many moons ago and it's nice to play it again with the remastered visuals and sound.Got it from Takealot for R385 and I must say its money well spent.Well worth it if you have'nt played it before or if you just want a trip down memory lane!!

Well on a 40" LED they do look pretty darn good!!Compared to what Doom3 looked like on the old xbox it's a big improvement.

Been playing with the sikk mod variants for past few days and wow it looks great, but may still brutalize your pc. Still it gives a lot better looks and features over the BFG. Only thing that you might miss is the lost mission.

And yes, I'd be lying if I didn't mention that doom3 gets a lot of wrongs, but still if you want to play it I'd suggest that you don't get BFG right of the bat if you really want to play the lost mission.

Rather wait for the bargain bin and in the meantime if you need HD, upgrade and remastered try one of the sikk mods:

PS. Note that doom bfg doesn't support mods or so it seems as fs_game does nothing there is also no option "mods" in the menu...

I really wanted to get this. But apparently there is no CoOp Play in Doom 3. This put me off completely.
Wanted to get the PS3 version of the PS Store. But maaaaybe later.

If they could add CoOp I would buy it in a heart beat!
 
I will get this when ID stops being so anal about their PC segment. Just enable Modding and options in the menu... or just MODS.

Only reason why BFG runs so nice is because it, like quake IV, is aware of multiple cores and not like "classic" doom3 just one. If you compare sikkmod in Q4 VS cD3 then you can clearly see what mayor improvement Q4 holds over cD3. WTF was carmack thinking disabling smp for cD3 :mad:
 
All the reviews have said it's crap, so they've done what they are probably there to do, and thats to scare me off from buying the BFG edition...might pick it up in bargain bin, I was really hoping iD will bring something new out or expand on RAGE

Did not know mods is just visuals. To think the whole classic doom or the dark project is just a visual. Sad. Really sad.

Short:

BFG lack mod support. It is just doom with SMP and lightscale 2.

Not too sure here.... was saying that OP complained that Doom 3 looked bad on a Xbox compared to the PC version.
 
I just modded doom 3 with the hd textures and what not. Makes this release look so bad :)

If only original doom 3 was smp (multi core rendering) aware BFG wouldn't be needed in the first place. If only they allowed modds then it would have been a no brainer to get it. But no.
