For the guys going to the JHB show - don't rush, the ticket said 7 - the Kongo's went on at 8, at 8:45 they finished and then the wait started for Linkin Park - they only started about 9:30. We got stuck in the traffic on the way out - took 45 mins just to get out of the parking area, so ya Im tired, sore (way to much dancing and yelling and so forth) but it was well worth it.

We only heard about the accident half way thru the show when my dad phoned us to let us know something happened.

Good to hear Wyvz! we are going at 3 already on friday with the party bus... so it will take the bus about an hour and a half to get to the stadium... i have this feeling we will be F**&*& by the time LP starts playing :D
 
Yea we were shocked to hear about the accident, altho it doesnt surprise me that something like that happened. The wind was beyond mad last night. The band had to readjust their sound to compensate for the wind noise - took them about 3 songs and then the sound was brilliant.

They didnt interact with the crowd as much as I thought they would but you could see on the band's faces that they where astounded with the crowds reactions. It was really spectacular. The poor band was being blown around by the wind as well! When we left, it was like walking into a wall.

The guys selling merchandise even closed the one tent outside due to the wind - just as we got to the front of the queue. Still upset that I didnt get a hoodie. Ended up with just one of the tshirts. Must admit they played a great variety of music - from the oldies to stuff from the new album.
 
Problem was that was a Lucozade thing - But Big Concerts should have taken note of the wind reports last night and plan for that - the wind was causing chaos. The ironic thing was the amount of chicks wearing flared mini skirts who ended up showing a LOT more skin than they expected. . . Im actually glad we had dinner at the V&A first and then did the short walk up to the stadium from there. But the V&A needs to take lessons from Grand West on how to get people out of parking areas with the least amount of trouble.

when we were there, pre-kongos, the hoodies were sold out laready. also had to settle for a t-shirt... which I'm wearing today :D

still kinda disappointed they didn't play Crawling :(
 
They have no competition, hence they're a bunch of fucking slackers. How many cock ups have they made in the last few years and they're still here. They nearly dehydrated us on purpose during Metallica.

The City said that the tower had been "pre-approved and certified safe, by structural engineers prior to the event".

HAHA! I was hungover by 3pm, almost sober by the time Metallica started. was just WAY too much effort to get to the beer

The bar was a joke man. Who the hell was in charge of that. This was METALLICA - how many people where they expecting? 100?
Dumbasses. Luckily my girlfriend smuggled totpacks pack for us :p
 
Malice - even though it was Lucozade tower - unfortunately Big Concerts are still held liable since they have to approve all structures in and around the concert - yes they did have it checked by a structural engineer, but that guy should have checked to see if the tower would withstand the wind force from last night.

As for the songs - they played all my favourites so I was very happy!

true I guess. also, I think it was a bit unnecessary for that thing to have been that high, IMO
