Much write, very gaming
Hardware gamers do need
Call yourself a gamer? Not if you don’t have these

I guess I'm not a gamer then...
Not all of us can afford R13000 headphones...
Monk, IT especially helps on FPS's. And games like battelfield 3 need to be played with headphones... For example if you change a mag it drops to the ground and you can actually hear the difference from mag hitting ground to mag hitting cement and so on. it just add's to the overall enjoyment of the game. And its easier to locate an enemy by his footsteps.
That is not a NEED, also it's purely subjective. I would much rather have a nice rich booming sound system pumping my game sounds than have to content which headphones on my head all the time.Monk, IT especially helps on FPS's. So then the 'need' would be for a good sound system, whether that be speakers or headphones.![]()

I disagree
Try the man cave option. You'll never go back!
HD Projector onto a 3.6m wide screen
5.1 surround sound (Let's just say... pretty decent speakers)
200W RMS per channel Amp
500W RMS long throw subwoofer
You hear those mags drop... and then some!
I played ME 3 multiplayer and it was so awesome being able to "hear" where your enemy is coming from. Credit to the efforts the games are putting into their sound quality, but you only get the full effect on a good system with a balanced setup.
You can keep your headphones! Hahahahahaha!
But yeah... I think that "sound" is so important in game enjoyment (at least for me). Think of the importance you place in the kind of music you like and the effect music has on you... sound is one of our most powerful senses for producing powerful emotional connections and responses. Those of y'all still playing games on crusty earphones or no volume at all DON'T know what you're missing!
But I do have a pair of old Sennheiser 25's
(I take my sound seriously)
Whoa! watch out guys we have a badass over here!
