Guild Wars 2

I have to admit the idea of seeing the world shape is quite appealing, but if they want to do one time events. Make it spawn every hour or so for a day, cause now most of SA's people missed out on a 20 slot bag and exotic ear ring cause they couldn't log at 10 pm the night or waste 3 hours of their bloody life on an event.
Kinda pissed about the high drop chance of precursors that i missed out on. Don't really care for the exotics tbh.

Hmm how to put this there where 3 phases in the last event.

And by far the first one and last one was the most fun. Just wish the enemy would have rendered seen as it was clear and the next moment you have a boss on you.
The 2 hour to 4 hour grind it took for phase 2 was just unnecessary.
And I feel sorry for the guy that I was party with he dc 3 times that night and did not get the chest yet he was there for the whole first and 2de phase.

The loot at the end chest was awesome the precurser prices drop about 50% and that's a good thing :)

Have to agree with Isen on this one.

Getting 2 new games this week which will keep me busy until the GW urge becomes to big again :D

I had a fantastic time, personally. About two, maybe two and a half hours to complete it, but it was really enjoyable. As for the timing, they've explained why they chose it - it's the time during which the most players across the world play, and as such allows for the most exposure. Considering the one-time-ever nature of the event, I was happy to stay up until 12:30 to complete it.

The first phase was the hardest (looks like that was the case for most other servers as well) - BUT, once others and I started bossing others around to rez the NPCs and keep them alive (since with them dead, Karka's kept spawning), we made rocky, but steady and timely progress.

As for the difficulty of the enemies? I have no problem with it, considering the scale of the event. It was tough, but the players managed to fight through it (after that initial hiccup), which validates the glory of completing such a hard experience. Players soloing tended to get gibbed quickly, but generally sticking with the team, and coordinating with the server got stuff done.

Lag wasn't an issue - I was actually able to keep my settings on max for the first few phases, but it hit hard with the first reinforcement phase, up until the end of the second reinforcement phase.

But, I started to get so nervous that my PC was going to freeze, or my client was going to crash, that I started adding random friends on the overflow I was in so I could join on them ;P

Didn't score a precursor, but was happy with the two rares and two exotics I got, not to mention the general bag and accessory that most players got (I think?) - plus, having participated and completed a one-time event was reward enough, though it was evident that many others didn't agree ;P

A one time event is one thing (like the Mad King cinematic), but tying one time rewards to them that you cannot otherwise get is very disheartening. I had to work today so staying up until 12:30 was not an option.

I think they just need to be more reasonable with these things. The Halloween event was handled a lot better IMHO.

You where lucky we had a mass Dc in the phase 2 reinforcements so it took those guys to get back in game up to 30min since the logon servers where down. So we had a bunch of lets say 50 people having to battle all the stuff all of a sudden.

I feel sorry for the other time zones the event started at 3am for them.

Also next time maybe not have a free trial period at the same time as a big one time event...

I am just sad that we could not learn about phase one and phase two since its broken after you get the map piece. So we had one cut scene and for phase two a ship icon appearing out of nowhere 30min after the event was suppose to start. And phase 3 the death cut scene.

Ps you could have gotten this item. For 1000 shells, but guess what he is not there anymore.

Random Sword.

Yeah I think I'm done with Guild Wars 2 for at least six months.

The level of borkedness is just getting way too much for me to handle. What happened to testing shit before you release it and on top of stuff not working they wanted us to invite our friends to experience the awesomeness of a broken game...?

Yeah I'm out, going to change my password to something insane and see you guys in 6 months.

\o

Maybe start playing like this and you will have more fun.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/13at7s/my_5_year_old_son_is_better_at_gw2_than_me_or_a/
When I first started, I was kinda befuddled for a bit on the leveling since the game was so much different than what I was used to. However, recently my wife has let my 5 year old son play it about 30 minutes a day, and after watching him, my wife told me that it was absolutely fascinating how he played and she (my wife :P) can't explain how he levels so quickly. She (my wife :P) encouraged me to play together with him, since in a very short amount of play time he has reached level 12. So last night I took my Necro over and we played together. He was very excited to teach me his tips and tricks to success in GW2, so I thought I would share.

Here is what I learned.

Apparently, you must wander in what ever direction kind of looks interesting to you.

A. If he sees another player, he may get very excited and run toward them to "help them out".

B. If he's surrounded by mobs, he will carefully look around and decide which mob he likes to kill exclaiming "Ooo he's level 11! I'm just 10! He could kill me!"
C. A lot of his focus is going to "win the diamonds" (discovering the waypoints).

D. If he sees a body of water, he might exclaim "Let's go have a swim! Follow me, I'll show you how to swim!"

When downed, wait patiently even if no one is around, because someone will eventually come along and rez you.

A. We've explained to him he can come back at the waypoints, but he remarks "I know! But watch! Someone will come save me! I promise!" and then proceeds to look around and wait patiently for as long as it takes. Luckily during our run, I was there and could "get his back".

B. When getting rezzed by two or more people, he gets so excited apparently that he leaves the game immediately to go throughout the house to tell everyone the exciting news. Of course, I exclaimed "Aren't you in a battle?! You just left them?!" to which he responded "Oh yeah!!!" and ran back.

He finds Youtube unnecessary when discovering challenging undiscovered vistas. His preferred method of technique is simply to wait patiently for as long as it takes for someone else to come discover the vista. He then watches them closely and follows them to discover the vista.

The most perplexing mystery of all, is the evening I spent with him playing, I didn't really feel like I was doing much of anything. It was a strange sort of relaxed just look around and enjoy your surroundings sort of play. However, he leveled up twice during our playing that evening. TWICE, without any of my normal "Ok what heart do I go to next? Any events in the area? How's my gear doing? Where should I put these points?" type play.

Anyways, I thought it was interesting...

That is a pretty epic story. Just shows you, if you stop trying to win and just try to have fun, you may actually land up doing so. :D

Seems like the kid put some real life "playing" and puzzle solving" mechanics into his game! It sounded so awesome!

Hehehehe! Smart kid, cause he knows his pocket is going to be raped by way point fee's :P

Well I'm not saying the game is not fun, it is and I had a lot of fun just running around doing whatever I felt like.

I solve jumping puzzles myself and mostly before any of my friends do. It's just the amount of broken content and events and all the rest that are pissing me off. I will be taking a full on break from Guild Wars 2 and in six months when my Minecraft addiction has subsided and ArenaNet have fixed the issues the game has I will come back and do all the videos I was actually planning on doing when the game launched.

But I won't showcase the game in its current broken state. So I'll rather spend the time building an audience with my Minecraft videos once I get a new mic and then in 6 months time add Guild Wars 2 to the list of games being played to my videos.
