So, Planetside 2 launched today and my download is running. Hopefully it'll be done in time for the weekend.

I never played the first one or the betas for the second one, but it looks pretty good, for a F2P

Anybody else in the MyG universe joining? Maybe we should start a MyG clan :p

Some Empire info:

Terran Republic – Like a militaristic government, the Terran Republic uses its Imperial authoritarian might to impel humanity to peaceful coexistence through any means necessary.


New Conglomerate – A loosely connected group of rebel factions and idealistic freedom fighters, the New Conglomerate fight against the hegemony of the Terran Republic and the fanatical alien influence of the Vanu Sovereignty.


Vanu Sovereignty – A technocratic Empire that believes humanity can only evolve by rediscovering and tapping into the lost technology of an ancient alien race.

Once you're in, PM me your Empire, Player Name and Server your's playing on, then I'll compile a list here. (so far server Miller seems to be the most popular. just saying :p). Also let me know of any outfits you have created.

I actually just wanted to start a thread about this. :)

I'm not a fan massive multiplayer games (or FPS actually), but this seems pretty cool... Reminds me of a massively upgraded UT3.
Also busy downloading it now.
 
Started the Steam DL last night, should be on this weekend. Hopefully the latency doesn't put us at too much of a disadvantage, but from what I've seen in the beta it's not looking good.

Yeah, was pretty much impossible to snipe anyone and you had to use a generous amount of leading the target in order to land a hit. So many times I ran into someone thinking I got off the first shot only to find myself dead.

I'm hoping that the game has seen some improvements in that regard.
 
yeah my biggest concern is that my little shared 1mbps line won't be able to keep up :(
 
I tried the game out briefly during the Beta, the game is huge and it takes a while to orient yourself. Hopefully it's better optimised, I got some horrible framerates in certain built-up areas. It seemed that my cpu (old but stil 4 cores @ 2.8Ghz) was the culprit since lowering the gfx made no difference.
 
Really hope latency doesn't end up being a (big) problem, that'll suck.
This game just looks TOO damn good to pass on... :(
 
I'll start download after work,hope the latency isn't too bad and you don't spend forever running from place to place.

I remember how bad the latency was in Tribes:Ascent,Can't hit crap with the launchers or Assault rifles.

download is 15% done already, so might be finished by tomorrow :D

hopefully they took a page from the Tribes book and fixed any latency issues there might be. really don't want this to be another Blacklight :(
 
I'm about to start playing. Post your nicks and factions here, and we can see about starting a group or something. No idea what the game is about, so I'm down for playing any faction. Would just prefer not to play the Terran as they sound boring and overpopulated.
 
Also started downloading when I left fot work this morning, but with Hitman and Borderlands 2 DLC out I don't know when I'll get around to checking it out.
 
Sounds like leaving it a few days is best. Launch day woes, etc etc.

Servers are currently down due to a crash.

I'm busy dling now should be finished by this evening, Would be cool to start a SA "Outfit" (guild). Just depends on which empire has the most South Africans
