BT games

Its not often that people mention good service on this site, I mainly see negative comments

On friday I went to pick up my freedom edition of AC3. As we have often seen, due to system error the order wasn't up on the system yet but they knew I had my order in and my order confirmation e-mail.
I was expecting a thread worthy horror story but the guy asked for my card and said he would bump up my account to cover the price and let me walk out with my game. All I'm missing is an invoice which I'm going in to collect today.

If anyone else gets some beyond expectation service from other retailers, can we please also hear about it. Its good to know who to visit as well as who to avoid like the plague.

I'd say in this rare case you were very lucky. In general BT Games is renown for their sub-par service and rude, unprofessional staff/manager

To me this post honestly seems purely like your expectations were so low about them when they did the job they were actually meant to do in the first place they get praised for it ... i mean you went into the store expecting the game and now have to return for the invoice... personally i wouldnt be praising them you went there to get your game as agreed upon when you ordered it you shouldve been able to walk in pay walk out with everything.

IMHO

ive never had a problem with BT but i dont buy a lot from them

VERY true Malice but which branch was this????
Mostly the one in Tyger Valley. But the Canal Walk one isn't much better. I strolled in there on Saturday in the hopes that they sold MTG, so I just browsed a bit. The staff looked like they were on lunch and they were just sitting around, bitching about their salaries and that they don't get paid overtime. Then they told one guy, "COD is for 12 year olds, real men play BF3" (I'm paraphrasing).

I don't want to go on a rant and sound like a pensioner at a Justin Bieber concert. I just think it's very unprofessional, that is all.

You obviously didn't see the breach of internal control, nor the fact that it screws over so many accounting entries and further processes that he needs to now sort out. We had this debate on a previous thread about the auditing implications from the breach in internal control here.
When I say what he did was no small thing, I mean it because I know the issues at play here. Somehow I don't think you see it and are just looking from one side.

I actually find it insulting to belittle my "expectations" and the solution this guy came up with.

Edit:
If I remove the fact he phoned management his conduct could amount to fraud and by extension grounds for instant dismissal.

point still stands why did he have to go through all that he did to find a solution thats a big up on that guy... the end of the day i order a game they tell em i can pick it up this date i dont really care what they have to do but i want that game on the date agreed upon... yes this guy did go the extra mile but what did BT games do to deserve praise other then make you have to come into the store twice to buy 1 game ?

The thing that strikes me here is you got good service from a single employee, because {drum-roll} BT Games screwed up your order!

It's great that the guy was so helpful and sorted you out, and props to him for that, but at the end of the day, he just made up a bit for the bad service of BT Games as a whole.

Clearly BT Games shouldn't be praised for whatever little effort they put in over here, i must say having moved around JHB areas i have always experienced good service from BT, my latest being the special for Uncharted 3 with the Box set, i asked them to keep it for me coz i was gonna come through the next day to pick it up, not only did they call me the next day to remind me but they called me to confirm that i had asked my woman to come get it for me, this was at the Westgate Shopping Mall.
