Balancing hardware in your PC

Great article. Something to think about, especially as I am buying a new pc with my bonus, though for me it's gonna be a balance between what the heart wants and what the wallet can give...

I didn't know you still get sound cards. Or, ok... I suppose I did, but I thought it was only for professionals that use it for recording or something.
What's wrong with the standard onboard 3D surround sound?

I always go mid range with my hardware. Since it's going to age anyway, my i5 760 has lasted me 2 years and will have to last another 2 if it can.

This is a big problem when it comes to upgrading or buying a whole new pc...
Great article btw and those fancy gaming mice and keyboards are over rated. When I bought a new pc ( R15000 yes that's the price of my pc and how much I sold my kidney for ) I went with the roccat lua.. A classic 3 button mouse why? Fancy keyboards and mice don't mean shit

Seems to be the prevailing thought of a few guys I've talk to. The high end hardware is awesome and feature rich, but on a budget do you really need all those bells and whistles.

Yeah, someone shares my point of view.

I try to keep up with the current console generation, and predictable next. If a game doesn't run well, then it's the problem with the game itself.

8800Gt and Radeon 6790 atm. That and power supply + Budget.
My e6600 is fine for now, but I'm sure I gonna need to upgrade it in the future (because it's already somewhat bottlenecking. But my card will be valid for a few years more.
