Does anyone know of an easier way to get games up and running in Ubuntu than Wine? I cant get Skyrim installed. or maybe i just dont understand how wine works?

Most games won't work with wine.... Better to stick to linux based versions.... I don't think I've seen a game work in wine

Many games DO actually run in Wine - including Skyrim!

What version of Ubuntu & Wine are you using?
What hardware do you have?
Have you tried 'winetricks'(http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks)?

Tried Steam for Linux? Or is this still beta, or what? They should bring some titles to Linux soon.

I actually run my OSes the other way around... I have Windows 7 installed on my PC, and have a Debian VM running in VirtualBox. The VM has more memory and CPU assigned to it, because this is my main OS, running most of the time. When I want to play a game, I close the VM and my Windows machine has all the RAM back.

i'm trying SteamforLinux at the moment.
Ive installed Ubuntu 12.10, but not sure what version of wine. i uninstalled when i couldnt get anything to work. but if steamforlinux works, im not going to bother with wine any further for now. Maybe later when im more familiar with linux. (just recently changed from windows to ubuntu)
