If anybody's been wanting to play TSW, but have been put off by the subscription fee - you now have your chance. After purchasing the game, subs are optional, but those who pay monthly subs will earn some benefits:

New Membership Available

For those who want to get the most out of their Secret World experience we have an optional Membership available. Being a monthly subscriber, for the same cost as before, now gives great benefits. For being a member you get the following:

- Time Accelerator (Clickable item which increases experience gain for defeating monsters by 100% for 1 hour, 16 hour cool-down – only usable by Members and Grand Masters)
- $10 worth of Bonus Points (given out every month)
- Item-of-the-month gift (given out every month)
- 10% discount to everything in the in-game store

The Grandmaster pack includes all these benefits and gets an additional 10% discount to everything in the in-game store, for a total bonus of 20%. So being a Grandmaster is better than ever!

Through the month of December we have a special offer where we give 30% off on the first purchase on the 3, 6 and 12 month Membership plans.

Awesome. I really enjoyed this game and felt i would like to play it once in awhile, subscription just wasn't making it worth it. Definitely updating my game for a look around killing some zombies in Kingsmouth . If you haven't played the game, highly recommended, even just for a month :) .

Don't want to be picky, but that seems contradictory.

How's it contradictory? Would you pay a sub for say, Assassin's Creed past the first month of extensive play after you already paid full price for the box ? Would that make the game "not recommended" ?

TSW had a box cost AND a sub AND it's a game that has an ending in terms of the story. Funcom was suppose to add sufficient content every month to make that $15 a month worth it, they didn't, hence why the sub was not worth it. Basically, you paid $15 a month for DLCs that never arrived (they tried, but it wasn't worth $15)...doesn't make the core game bad.

To put it simply, it's a great game, but it's not a game you are going to play for months. It is a game i would like to play once in awhile when there's new quests, but i'm not going to keep up a subscription every month to do so. Not sure what part of this concept confuses you?

Jannie: Jis fokkit tsw is maar kak met subs / Wow tsw is the suck with subs
Jannie: Jis fokkit tsw is befok sonder subs / Wow tsw is the jizz without subs

Same game, just not paying. Contradiction much?

:edit
To be simple: TOR was kak with subs, it is still kak without subs.

Umh no,i paid for TSW, the box cost. Shouldn't that already say enough? I loved every moment of TSW until i reached the end. I could've poked around and waited for new content, but paying monthly for "unknown content" was not worth it.

As for TOR, i was bored quite early with that game, and their F2P conversion sucks anyway, you pay for freaking actionbars. TSW is going the GW2 route here, you buy the box and get the game, so i'm comparing it to single player games like Skyrim which you play a month or two and move on. In that regard TSW is great.

They did a few things in there you don't see in any other MMO, where TOR is just a reskinned WoW. Alot of people that didn't like TSW , didn't like it because it was bad or anything, but because the theme and atmosphere is not to everyone's tastes. (It is somewhat of a horror game) .

Annnyway, to be honest, almost every MMO with a sub these days get the same treatment . If i pay for the box and then paying $15 a month without adding new content, it's not worth it. I rather pay for DLCs as they arrive.

Not to pee on anyone's parade, but it actually isn't. He's just saying that the game is not worth paying a monthly subscription fee for, but is worth playing without the subscription fee.

The sub is the original reason why I gave it a skip.

OK, misunderstanding then.

I really enjoyed TSW. It was a nice change, but not something I'd subscribe to for a prolongued period.

I'm going to can my subs and see how the b2p thing works. Really... R170 for faster XP, free points and 10% isn't much imho.

Also going to give this a spin again sometime soon, when I manage to get the whole client downloaded again.

Just a note of warning. If you have an upgraded beta the changes are good that you will suffer from DCs in savage coast and kingsmouth. They say that you'd need to try repair first and if that does not work... redownload
