Ah ok, that makes more sense then. ^_^No no no.... you misunderstood. I was a bit vague, what I meant was you can use that as a tool to measure where and under what circumstances your setup looks better. I.e. using Component cable versus using HDMI etc etc.

Isn't that what this entire thread is discussing?Being new to console gaming via an Xbox360 (I'm a ooollllddd PC gamers though), I'm curious whether there's any real merit to restricting console games to 720p? Watching the g/f play some Halo Reach the other day (on our 46" LED), I was impressed by the picture quality. It had me wondering whether there may be perceivable benefits between 720p vs 1080p
When you change the resolution of the PC game you are changing both the internal and external rendering resolutions. So the game is both being rendered and displayed at 1080p.Is this the same case for the pc? I doubt it...
Playing borderlands 2 on @ 1920 x 1080 will obviously be better than @ 1280x720 with a capable graphics card?

A fairly recent exception to that is Dark Souls where no matter what res you set the output to it would still render internally at 1024x720. Which of course caused quite a bit stir and resulted in a modder fixing that issue.
