If you need your hack and slash fix this weekend before Diablo 3's release, Grinding Gear Games is holding a public weekend of their upcoming free-to-play action RPG Path of Exile.

I played in the previous open weekend and I must say it is looking really good for a free to play game. The game's art style is clearly inspired by Diablo 2, but they have a lot of very unique ideas in there, so check it out.

I played it a while back. Just waiting for the open beta to start on Wednesday and I'll get back into it.
 
I played a weekend open beta with CrzWaco some time ago and after a rather slow start it actually became very entertaining. I think I'll hold off until the full release though, I don't want to have to start from the beginning a third time.

You won't have to start over again. They have said that this character wipe on Wednesday night will be the last one ever...

I'm planning on starting after the wipe, so if you guys are keen to join me just post your account names :)
 
PS: If you have any beta keys left, you should use them before the open beta or they will expire!

I wouldn't mind one myself ;)

I haven't played this in a while. Looking forward to trying it again and seeing what they've done with it.

Gir its like diablo style but with loads more skills you can pick.
Loads of fun once you start specing in skills since you can clearly see you becoming stronger.
The skill tree looks confusing as hell from screenshots but once you load up the game and get a few min checking it out its easy to understand.

Torchlight II is filling that gap nicely :D Going to continue with my lvl 64 odd engineer tonight while I wait for this to become available.
