Dota 2 Local server

You must be playing on the wrong servers. I've never experienced this "terrible lag". To answer your question though, no there are no local servers.
 
I really wouldnt count on it , Valve wants to keep a close eye on their servers , ruling out mweb etc hosting one. And unfortunately our community is too small :(
 
When in game type -ping see what your latency is or if your getting packet loss. If you are connecting to EU , you should get between 200-300 ms

Then something is definitely wrong with your setup. You should see barely any lag really. I the average human reaction time is around 215ms, so 200ms latency shouldn't be breaking your game.
 
so is there no privated games can a person join ...thanx the lag always happen when there lots of spell being casted by other players
 
What line do you have? Sounds like a bandwidth problem. Either that or it's an FPS (read PC) problem and you need to upgrade your gfx card or lower you in game settings.

Wireless technology, Iburst or 8ta.
latency varies between 268ms to 400ms depending on weather.

Cant be pc issues, recent re-install, 2X GTX590's...I usually notice its when you got deal with a Broodmother.
 
Enable the console then turn on the netgraph so you can see what is going on while you play. Shows you latency, fps and a couple of other things.

8ta is better if you have strong coverage.

You could contact the 8ta rep on MyBroadband and let them know your signal is bad. They might be willing to install a directional antenna in your home.

Thanks I was actually looking for that command.Will post if anything appears, do you have a CPU and RAM OSD program, seems Afterburner is only GPU.

Your telling me, but this is the lol of it all. The Iburst is better than 8ta, during certain times (6 -11pm) 8ta's latencies are the most erratic, from 260 to 400 sometimes 1000( this is with full signal strength with HSDPA). However the Iburst is the most consistent however its throughput is terrible, I have this feeling, due to iburst's terrible throughput, once late game and there are hundreds of commands (I.e. broobmothers baby spiders and Natures treelings) doing things I start to lag even a disconnect (tested no packet losses).

I am dissapointed, the 8ta rocked last year and ever since they started with the Lte pilot project (my area is included) I am affected by the trails.
 
Anyways back on topic..Everyday I see a thread pop up for SA servers, the community is agreeing however no direct response from Valve or their moderators.

Though i really hate the fact people change subject or add to it.
I think most RSA dota 2 players should add to that thread detailing local problems (i.e. 3g vs DSL) or like how telkom gives you uncapped local but capped international.
Bring to light that we need them.

OK some feed back.
Using netgraph i was able to see truely whats happening.
It was latency. It sits at 280 then climbs to 600. Obviously with using -ping, it was giving me the result when it was at 280.
 
Inconstant pings seem to be a lot more problematic than constantly high pings. That being said, I wonder if people who struggle to play on the European servers due to ping would also struggle on South African servers with their inconsistent lag spikes?
 
Too bad Valve wouldnt respond to that thread. Lol the previous thread was quite funny with people going on about the russian players. I wont lie, they are a plight on the game currently.

If we could play with pings around the 100ms average mark that would be amazing.
