Need proper sound for my Bantam

I bought a Bantam 1.3i Base nearly two years ago. It didn't come with a sound system and I didn't really need one, but I'd like to put one in now.

Any suggestions? Willing to spend between 3 and 5 grand.

Also, where in Pretoria would be the best place to get it done?

YOu can get a lekker sony Xplod Combo, Mp3 Player, Amp, 12" sub, 6x9's for a decent price.

But 6x9's wont really help. Get the above with a nice split system "mids and tweeters" and a slimline bakkie sub-box for the sub, and you sorted man.

Mappy..... dude, you need to speak to me about car radios like you would to someone who thinks his DVD-Rom is a cupholder. :o :p

The one thing I'd like to have, as an extera, is a car radio that I can connect my iPod to. Do you get those?

I generally also dont like them, but thats to give him a general idea of what he's looking at ;)

Tox you could also go for the Kenwood Tornados 12" and a decent 2000rms Audiobank 4ch amp :)

He's gonna need a thinner profile sub for his bantam as the sub will be used behind/below his seats, and the tornado needs a bit bigger box, they tend to pop cones on thin clearance installations :)

If it were a car I would no doubt recommend the kenwood Tornado. I like kenwood.

My 144.2DB reading came of a single Kenwood DB+ Sub, and my 146DB reading came of a Rockford Monster 12". Not that big a difference considdering the price of kenwood vs rockford, and this is way back then when the only mp3 player on the market was a rockford @ R4999. I'be been out of the sound business a long time.

I have a dumpvalve now, nuff said!

ok. here's what you do.

Here is the frontloader you are going to buy!

Good Brand, Good specs, great price!

Then get yourself a combo like this.
Contains the tweeters, mid range speakers, subwoofer and amplifier

Then just get yourself a wiring kit, wich is roughly R300 :)

I'll check that out, thanks Mappy. This looks like it's gonna be more difficult than I thought.

Tox its not that hard it just depends whether ur going for Treble or Bass you know... what you can also do is check out Audio Evolution and ask for ryan or wesley they are in the same car club with me and speak to those guys they can probably give you a couple tips :)

I just want good sound. I've got a good idea of what to go for now but to install all of it..... eish.

Don't know if I want to start taking off door panels and carpets and stuff.

ag thats nothing dude dont stress :p besides the guys at Audio Evolution could give you some decent tips considering you have a Bantam :)

The problem with the Bantam is the space where the radio goes...... it's huge. Twice as high as a normal radio, so that's gonna make things interesting.

Then there's my warrenty, if I do it myself would it be voided? I'm wondering if I shouldn't have it done for me?

no you wont void your warranty on your car.... as long as you dont drop or raise your suspension, adjust your cars engine in anyway and you have an invoice if you do your exhaust and breaking system you are well within your rights to do the sound those are the only things you cannot do with ur car under warranty..... I did the sound in my car myself and I still installed lights under my dash :) and i even confirmed that suff with my step father...

Lol, I can see me buying all this stuff and bringing it with me to our next MyGaming meet so that you and Mappy can help me out. :D :p

Lol,

You can buy the Bantam radio "plate" from Autosound in Koedoespoort or at the Montana Traders. Even Auto Technics or what-is-their-name-again in Voortrekkerweg.
