Eugene's new gaming PC

depends on what is going to be done. I need 16 Gigs when rendering vods. I kinda need to upgrade my GPU and ram -.-'

I'm trying to find out "how much" of a difference 8Gb to 16Gb will make? I dont really think that normal windows operations will utilise even close to 16Gb.

At full load my pc only uses max 4Gb of ram

Okay i understand that makes sense if u are rendering.. was merely enquiring :)
Many people foolishly get 16gb of ram with the idea that it will make their pc faster.

You recon you're m... uh... pig enough for that machine, Eugene? "whistling:
Just kidding. Enjoy, you bloody bastard :)

lol yea most people think that More ram = fast PC >< its the MHZ = Faster PC.

Same for over clocking.

people over clock there CPU from X to Y same for the Ram. But some people i know and have seen that they did not clock the FSB >< so the whole point of clocking redundant it made the PC around 1/50 faster than before, till i told them to clock the FSB.

But yea Most PCs hardly use more than 4Gigs of ram only when going into rendering, Programing, multi-tasking (things that use RAM. ) do i see that the more ram and faster speed ram you have the better.

Simple test. Run BF3 at ultra @ 1920x1080 on a 64 player mp map, play 3 hours and check your memory usage.
We are now moving in the direction where games become more resource hungry. I do agree that 16GB is over kill for the time being but its a matter of time before games start using more ram. Also this specific machine will be used for photoshop and a couple of other resource hungry applications. Eugene also wants the machine to last him a good couple of years before having to worry to upgrade.

So we pushed the budget as far as it could go.

Ahh so future proofing is his goal here. Also makes sense. Especially when spending that kind of money all at once
