Tomb Raider (2013) discussion thread

The game is out and a few of us probably have the game now...

So, let's get discussing:D.

I've played an hour and a half now, and I must say the game and Lara's hair:D are beautiful (TressFX, seriously, it'll distract you ). So far the story unfolding seems very interesting and the gameplay aspect is solid (when you're allowed to play and not just be part of an interactive story:rolleyes:)

I must admit though, I know it's only been roughly over an hour of gameplay, but those QTEs are just a bit much. I also hope the hand holding isn't as much later in the game as it is at the moment.

Otherwise, I'm enjoying the game and can tell that I'm in for some epic gaming with this one:)

I started my update on steam but my line has gotten really slow lately, maybe I can get some game time this weekend but I have 4 tests to study for so maybe in the evening I might get some play time.

I love the TressFX but yeah it hurts... need to maybe overclock my CPU. My specs is i3 2120, 8GB Ram and a nVidia GTX570. I think I can assume my GFX is fine.

It's dependant on your GPU, but it's an AMD technology so it's probably better optimised to run on AMD GPU's.

How many QTEs? Because they really do get annoying.

Apparently they get way less later in the game. But in that 1st 1 - 2 hours? My God! They're plenty...

Toggle left and right to get free, left to dodge falling boulder, press F to knee your aggressor, tap F to bite him, F to get the gun in the power struggle, E to shoot... Right mouse to shoot the wolf lunging at you in slo mo, and the list goes on... The frequency is what gets to you:rolleyes:, it reminds me of those BF3 QTEs.

Oh wait.

Even though I am not a Tomb Raider fan, I took the plunge and bought this on my Edgars account today. Busy installing it now and then the wait for the update starts. At least I can play something on the PS3 while I wait ...

I guess I won't get to see the hair FX thing since I'm still rocking a dual core CPU, but I'm pretty certain I can run the game on decent settings at least (have a GTX550Ti).

I'm running it on Ultra, without tressfx on my 2500k + gtx560ti. Averages between 30 and 40 fps on 1080p.

Nvidia issues will be sorted within a week.
Nvidia were only given the game code a week before release so their drivers are not up to scratch yet.

Apparently according to nvidia the devs are going to have to patch the game too since some of the issue can only be resolved on their end.
