SimCity 2013

Total biscuit's first impressions is uploaded.... It actually look's good :D

Just finished watching it.

My biggest crux with this is the limited space of the regions and no teraforming. Though I am currently placing my order on TakeAlot. The need for an always on internet connection isn't really an issue (for me anyway, same should go for you). We live in a digital world and as such have 24/7 internet and uncapped, what's the problem!?

PS: As TotalBiscuit & Genna say, "It would be great if the regions/cities continued to develop/progress while not 'playing' it. imo

The problem is that people are already queuing to play their game and that when the server goes down you can't play at all.

Good for you. I reserve the right to use my Internet connection when I want to and for what I want to. The fastest line that I can get is 4Mbps and for the last week or so I haven't been able to get more than 1.3Mbps out even when switching between Afrihost and WebAfrica. Why should I not be able to play this game when my Steam is busy downloading and iTunes is busy updating and my WiiU is busy downloading demos? Why should I only be able to play this game when I am somewhere where there is Internet?

There are several other blatant issues with the game, so I'm just going to give it a skip.

Ja, I hope you are referring to someone specific and not saying that nobody should have a problem with it, cause I don't have uncapped internet or even a Telkom line to my house. So that there is the problem. My feeling is that Maxxis and EA can suck a hard one for this.

Also, I never play pirated games, but for SimCity I might just make an exception.

I think you're wrong, partly. Here is why. I have steam all my games are on steam, my steam is always online. Now lets take Tropico 4, great game. I'm paying it and my internet switches off, I don't notice because I don't get thrown out of my map. Thats the crux for me, I went through a period where my internet was up down every 5 mins. If it just authenticated it would be fine. I think what Genna and TB say is correct, the system is partly like that to force MP and to sell all the extra DLC they are planning.

Don't worry, these awesome features will be "added" in future DLC and/or with microtranscations! Isn't that awesome?! Don't you just love EA's business model?

"Great! I'm so happy that the game is always-online so that the economy can be controlled making microtransactions feasible. It really added to my gaming experience to be forced online." Said no one. Ever.

Yep, maps too small? No problem just buy the big map DLC.

No trains? No problem, just buy the sub-way DLC.

Several important features were omitted purely so that they can be sold later on, and that is just criminal.

Right, guess I'll be waiting about 6 months before I pick this up.

Sim City Review In Progress

Update: Unfortunately I can't recommend buying SimCity until these crippling server issues are fixed.

Apparently when the counter hits 0 it closes the game for some people cause it still can't get them into the server.

Ok, make that 12 months. I'll just carry on with SimCity 4.

I think if anybody is actually planning on getting this game it would be useful to wait to the GOTY edition which should include hopefully some cool DLCs like larger maps or subways.

As for me I'm just going to skip it and revel in good memories of the past.
