The Graal-Wyzak effect

If I may offer my most humble opinion to you Graal. If the mods aren't reacting to you, just try get a hold of one of us senior guys to help out as some of us have done in the past. I'm not going to entice skullduggery but I will offer my help if the mods/James are/is too busy to attend to the matter.

Hey guys,

I see the title was just changed, can I make a suggestion that it gets changed back and gets stickied? It can just be beneficial to the forum in general if people know that there are repercussions to their actions and have an idea of what the repercussions are.

Additionally, does "Warning: Yes" mean that you will receive a warning before being penalized, or is the penalization the warning? It might also help to clear that up ;)

Anyway, I'll accept my 5-pointer with poise and grace.

It means you will receive a warning about the infraction.

Also, the reputation feature is also pretty useful to gauge someone. If you see a post from someone with a shocking reputation, you'll know that it isn't worth the effort to say anything in reply. I understand that many people get hot under their collars, but it might help you avoid much anger and gray hairs.

We have the feature, use it.

Yeah, but the reputation feature is a bit useless at the moment. Every person who gives rep can only give one rep-point at most, which is not a bad thing, but the rep tiers are so high that it would take ages for someone to work off his/her neg-rep and get it from red to green. As an example, Neo would probably require anything from 100 - 300 rep points just to get from red to grey and then more to get back into the green.

I don't know how it works, but isn't there a way to change the rep tiers? Say, to get from one tier to the next you only need 20 or 30 points or something like that?

With rep points counting so little, I think it might be the fairest representation of a person. If you are really far down, I think it might be with good reason. I know of a user on here that was pretty far down, but managed to turn it around. I reckon that if you manage to do that, you worked hard at it and people value your opinion now and don't regard you as a troll.

If rep points count too much, it might unnecessarily boost or dunk someone in the wrong direction.

Yeah, that's the thing. Rep wasn't reset after the change, so people could have been sent into the negative by two or three posters whose rep counted for a lot, and now they have no chance to get out of the red. Essentially, people with high rep became immune to neg-rep when the system was changed and people with low rep have very little chance to get out of it with the new system.

Doesn't rep given by a two-poster only count when they reach a certain point of reputation themselves? I know that i have one or two "grey" spots.

You should all shut up and play arma 3 :P ...it's really that awesome.

Also Wyzak hasn't even played simcity or owned it...enough said right there.
