Wtf why more in Gauteng? Why milk us more than the coast guys.
its always been like that.

transport costs. moving tons of (flammable) liquid is not exactly free.

i think the price difference is more of a guesstimate than a reflection of actual transport cost though. esp now with the pipelines in the east.

There is also the cost of the pipeline from Durban, I think, which pumps oil/fuel to Gauteng-a-leng.

No surprises, petrol and fuel is a non renewable resource the price will be going up till we run out of it.

Even though the oil price went down. New taxes and a weak rand still screw us over.

The price inc has little to do with the amount of oil in the ground.

OPEC has essentially a monopoly & they make the price whatever they feel like.

There is lots of it though....e.g. the alberta oil sands. Way more oil than say saudi. And at current prices production is already profitable. Tech exists too.

Its politics & money, not oil reserves that are the issue.

Also...thx mct

sigh waiting for the day it will cost R20 a liter

Not far off at all.

Even though the oil price went down. New taxes and a weak rand still screw us over.

The Rand plays a major factor here. As soon as it gets stronger, and if the oil price goes lower or stays at current levels, we'll see some relief. The taxes are nailing us though, Road Accident Fund increase still needs to happen, I think.
