I have no idea what 40k sm is like. But OMD is so much fun! I haven't played a lot, so don't know much about the story line. You basically defend portals from orcs, buy new weapons, upgrade them etc. It's also point based so you can compare your performance against your friends. And then there's the multiplayer. I suppose it could be fun, but I haven't played it yet...buy it maybe so that we can play maybe?;)
 
Orcs Must Die is an awesome game, loads of fun solo and even more with a gaming buddy - it actually gets hard fast.

It's nothing like Space Marine. You are in a relatively small arena type area and you have to set traps for the Orcs. It's also a lot less serious than Space Marine.

I'd say it's more like an active tower defense game.
