'Blasphemous" Bioshock Infinite: upset gamer gets refund

How about they just put a 'religious content' sticker on it?

Although I hardly doubt there are many people who care about such things so it may not be worth the bother.

There are plenty, Maybe not as much as people that don't care but enough to warrant proper content descriptions.

I wonder how they grade the games? do they play them?
If they do, or if they just get a report from the supplier, i cant see why they don't just release that information to the public.

People are really making a mountain out of a mole-hill on this one. So what if one guy was offended and asked for a refund. It's fully within his rights to do so. Good on him for standing up for what he believes in.

It's because he was more than likely being opportunistic and used a very illogical reason to get a refund. I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't offended by the game in the slightest.

I am confused

You said it wasn't the best worded post, Avatar disagreed and thought it was well put. :)

Point. I'm sure Valves intentions where good, but never underestimate the human ability to bullshit their way to free stuff. Let's hope this doesn't start a string of 'offense' related refunds.

I'm sure that Valve would have done a proper investigation before just giving him a refund. If this truly is at the start of the game, and the guy's game time reflects that he only played for a few minutes then there's nothing wrong with what Valve did.

Yeah of course, and I don't think Valve did anything wrong per se. But imagine this, I buy a game, I play 10 minutes of it - I hate it because it's crap - cue refund because that one bit 'offended' me and the publisher didn't unequivocally tell me would be in there.

I know what you are trying to say. But in a perfect world I think you should be able to return any crap game within 10 minutes of playing it for a full refund...

The current laws favour the developers way too much, and if they are modified it might actually help curb piracy somewhat.

Exactly this :)

So people can quickly apply a crack and then return it and say it's crap?

Hue hue hue.

That seems like a rather long way of going about it, when you have to dl the game content anyway.. I get where you're coming from on this, that we shouldn't just be allowed to return games, but this last point is a bit of a stretch, IMO.

I don't really think so. Person A buys game. Person A starts game up, after half an hour doesn't like what he's seeing and thinks it's not worth the R400/$60 he paid, so he cracks the game and takes it back for a refund. Doesn't sound far-fetched to me at all.

Good point.

Companies should never refund money for such bullshit reasons.

That is why you have walkthroughs, trailers, and reviews so you can check the game out before buying it.

If you bought a game that "offends" you, and didn't do the research beforehand, it's your own damn fault.

I wonder whether any reviews/walkthroughs would have highlighted this? A reviewer may not be offended by something and will not necessarily comment on it.

Seems like a bit of a moot point since he didn't seem too concerned about playing a game where you kill people. Surely that would go against his morals too?

I also thought of this, he knew how violent the game is and yet he didn't mind killing people , but then he bitches about how the baptism scene offends his religious views. That's outright hypocrisy.
