So peed off right now (unrelated to syco)

My damn letting agency is charging me like 16K to let out of my lease early!!
It's so retarded, my bloody doors haven't been able to lock since I moved in and there's hectic water damage to name but 2, but according to them the lack of maintenance and my lease agreement are "unrelated".

Anybody know if I have a legal foot to stand on should I want to pursue a legal avenue?

Consumer law prohibit this, The max as far as I know is a R500 fine. Go and see a lawyer.

This is what my one said, whether he is good or not I do not know. I am also looking at getting out of a lease but will be trying to find someone to replace my lease for the owner.

check your lease agreement and check the maintenance clause. the lease agreement has to set out the terms of lease and maintenance falls part of it.

Thanks for the advice guys.

The lease agreement states I can give 20 days with a reasonable penalty and that the landlord shall keep the unit in good condition fair wear and tear not withstanding.

I have sent a ping to a property lawyer to see if I can pursue this.
I want to kick myself for not checking HelloPeter before I rented.
