Samsung Galaxy S3 issues

Just checking if anyone experiences the same issue or might know what causes it.
I have the Galaxy S3 on Vodacom and with almost any call, about 2 minutes in (sometimes less), the call kinda "drops". I say "kinda" because the person on the other side can still hear me, but I can't hear them. Only way to fix is to disconnect and make another call.
 
Nope never had that problem.... I had sometimes, occasionally when answering a call heard nothing. But this I figured was more network related.
 
I tried disabling mobile data but it happened with again with my first call today. Now disabling Wifi... I'm actually considering getting another phone as this thing is driving me up the walls.

Seems like your phone loses reception? Do you have any battery power saving apps on your phone? Try disabling them first and see if that helps.

that's the situation I'm in now. Looks like I'll have to settle for a S4 cause MTN can't even tell me when they're getting the One, they just say it'll be available soon...
 
My S3 drowned in a bucket of water. Got the S4 now and its bloody nice, I will however sell it once I can get a good deal on a HTC One.

I've now disabled Wifi as well to see if that makes a difference. (And now nobody is phoning me). I read that call dropping is a common problem with the S3... overseas at least.

I'm considering maybe getting an iPhone 4 or something from FNB for R200 a month. It is a cheapy, but hopefully it will have reliable calls. Plus it raises my eBucks earning profile at FNB so I should be able to make R200 or more a month back in eBucks again.
 
man i also cant wait for the ONE its taking to long but I think by the time it comes it will be out of my Price range judging from the Vodacom price

To answer the OP
Bud its not your reception or network , Had a similar issue on my Desire HD it was the radio firmware ( used in rooted phone or flashing )

If your phone is rooted you can flash a new one , else check samsung site .

Don't use them as a scale, vodacom is overpriced
 
Quick update on this... I disabled Wifi and Mobile Data and that seems to have "fixed" the issue. Re-enabling mobile data today as I think Wifi was the cause.
Also, my battery is now lasting forever (instead of the previous 8 hours).

yeah wifi and 3G/HSDPA are your main battery killers

Sounds like a network problem which has plagued my area for a while doesnt matter what cellphone I use as long as it has a Vodacom Sim it drops connections randomly.

Got the Samsung galaxy s4 now but havent tested it if it still does it and a new micro sim.

What's the signal like in your area? I'm on Vodacom with an S3 and haven't experienced any dropped calls. The only issue I've had is sometimes I'll stop getting smses randomly and I'll have to restart the phone for them to come through :/ But this could also be because I'm running the nightly build of Cyanogen Mod.

Are you running any Custom Rom? If so, it's possible its the Radio.

I have full bars. My previous phone didn't have full bars in my house, but at least it didn't drop the calls. And it doesn't exactly drop the calls either. Like I said, it is like my phone cuts out so that I can't hear the other person anymore, but they can still hear me perfectly.

Is it something that just started randomly or has it always done this? So not like it was fine then the updates rolled out and now it's dropping calls? Other option is to try someone else's phone to rule out network issues in your area.
