Xbox One, PS4 generation ahead of top PCs: EA exec

From what I've seen so far, I think he's just talking crap to generate hype for non-tech savvy people. Perhaps it also depends on their definition of top end pcs? Are they maybe referring to the average pc that meets the recommended specs on most games? or are they referring to the enthusiast level pc?

These architectures are a generation ahead of the highest-end PC on the market,” said EA Chief Technology officer Rajat Teneja.

you guys are misreading what rajat says. what he means is the design and not the performance ! pc,s are still running cpu's and gpu's on seperate buses that causes bottlenecks the consoles have APU's which has a highspeed graphics chip on the cpu which = less bottlenecks as the 2 processors can communicate faster. He never said the performance is a generation ahead.

Not sure about the accuracy of this, but it's quite interesting.

As far as I'm concerned, PCs will remain the superior technological race in the war on performance and specs, even if the consoles of next-gen are mighty, it'll only be for so long ...

I don't see unified architecture being the future of PC gaming. Not having discreet graphics cards means you are severely hampered when it comes to upgrading. Also the AMD Jaguar CPU in these consoles is like two generations behind current top end CPU's.

No matter how you slice it these console just aren't a generation ahead of PC's in any meaningful way.

and yet for the price of a titan you can buy yourself 3 consoles "whistling: and the average Hardcore gamer with a high end pc will never buy a titan (only an elite few), the titan is in a separate league so such a comparison is quite stupid imo

its all about saving electricity, costs and reducing heat etc. a few years ago pc's didnt have 1 onboard component, these days you dont need a single expansion card on your mobo in order for your pc to run. it might seem implausible now but in a few years it will be the now, just have a look at how intel is investing like crazy on their intergrated graphics.

its the same with cars in the 70's every idiot had a v8 muscle car in the us because petrol was cheap, these days a honda crz hybrid is faster than those cars, look at how things have changed

'Cept current gen CPU's have a GPU, albeit not very powerful but architecturally that puts them at the same level then?

Thanks but you might need to explain it to me. My knowledge on all this is very high level :) How different is that architecture to that of these new next gen consoles? Or is that last A-Series what the new consoles will be sporting?
