Starcraft 2

Yeah, not building a forge would help.

I don't know the exact timings, but you build your first pylon when you have 9 probes, then build 3 more probes then build the gateway and as soon as you can afford it build an assimilator as well and put 3 probes in gas as soon as it's done, you should also warp in another pylon while the assimilator is warping in.

Build a cybernetics core immediately after your gateway finishes. If you do it right you will have exactly enough gas (100) to build a stalker and start warpgate research at the exact time that the cybernetics core is built. You have to keep making probes the whole time as well.

Hope that makes sense.

Sounds correct, and Eugene didnt emphasis enough KEEP MAKING PROBES!

Yep it did I usually went 10 probes > Pylon > 3 Probes in Assimilator > Gateway > Core > Stalkers so I must do the assimilator/probes while the gateway builds instead.

I try to keep making as many probes as I can when not building units or buildings

Yeah makes sense for me who keeps trying all sorts of things. I guess the important thing is to have some consistency in the way your start your game. You can always change tack if you spot the enemy taking a particular build.

In the end, it all comes down to improving your "micro" skills. macro alone isn't enough. I am learning :o

I use to be good at micro in Starcraft 1 but in Starcraft 2 my micro skills have gone out the window, I need to practice micro again.

In the lower leagues, macro is MUCH more important than micro. You're not going to be micro-ing anything if you don't have a decent army.

I use to play in the silver league in sc2 cant remember if I macroed more than microed in it

The key is to understand the opponent really, without scouting you will fail. Check what he is making / not making and counter. If you have room to expand ALWAYS use it.

The more units / income you have = Better chance of winning.

Thanks I always forget to scout properly with my observers need to get that skill down

I tried what you said Eugene and made stalkers in 3 min 40 secs after starting the game so a big improvement from 7 :D
