Taking a look at pricing around SA, is the right power supply model within your reach?

I am needing a new PSU, the Corsair VS550 would probably be the one I would go for. Should be enough to power a mid range card fairly comfortably.

Agreed, I'm looking at the VS550 myself to replace my Huntkey 550W.

The Seasonic M12II 620W is great value for money. Wootware are currently selling it for R800, which is about R200 cheaper than a few other places.

As a side-note, Seasonic make a lot of the high-end Corsair PSU's.

Agreed, I'm looking at the VS550 myself to replace my Huntkey 550W.

my brother has the huntkey 550W, seems to have served him well.
My psu is just enough to power my cpu as it is so even though the current gen cards use less power it is advisable to get mine replaced since it is going in to its 4th year now.

might be a little high, is it going to make much of a difference between that Corsair and this XFX with getting a mid range gpu and i5 type rig?

Not really mate.
I would still save and buy the xfx over the corsair though. Personal preference.
