Crusader tis a pls :)

And Mister 44 - yea we sat in the same boat whilst going thru the rolls and rolls and rolls of paper prints. Its hard to throw some of it away but it had to be done.

Good morning all

So it turns out the retail value on that Opel Corsa is R23 000 yet they are selling it for R40 000.
I have managed to convince my parents to consider the diesel option instead so we will be enquiring about those diesel models :)

i told you those cars are overpriced (people tend to inflate the prices on those cars and those old honda civic coupe's)

do you travel a lot for work?

Will be, we do a lot of bulk printing / copying and call outs. The only means of transport is either train or borrowing a car which isn't really working out.

I wonder if they tried to over inflate it due to the low mileage. Will find out soon if she phoned the dealer to tell them off and if she contacted any of the ones you suggested on gumtree.

A good way to get an idea of what a car goes for in the market is to check on autotrader's website. Some models go for more than book value, some less. When I bought my Sportage I had to pay R15k more than retail value because they are so popular. Checking prices I found out that it was still R5k less than the average price.

If your work hopefully pays you R3 per km like mine try get a car which uses R1-R2 per km then you get extra cash for more petrol a month or to save.

so if you do 2000 km a month thats an extra R2000 for example.

yeah they do that. but when you want to sell your car with low mileage they tell you that doesn't affect the price

Well the Opel Corsa's are fairly flooded on the market so I don't think I will have to pay a premium price, but I will check it out anyway, thanks.

Will probably be something like that. The problem is the cars that use less petrol eg Spark are the later models which cost more so trying to find a balance between economy and purchase price at the moment.

My 14 year old Mazda Sting 1.6 does between 6l/100 and 10l/100 depending how I drive which is R0.73 per km to R1.22 per km so doubt your vehicle will get higher than R1.50 at the most unless its uses tons of petrol.

I am a business analyst so work with a graphs and data a lot :D

Don't be fooled by vehicle size when it comes to fuel consumption. Mrs 44 drives a 2006 Toyota Corolla 140i and I've driven that car from the Freestate to the lowveld with 3 people in the back, the boot packed tight and I got 21km/l driving @ 120km/h which I think is pretty close to what a Spark will give.
It's not the size of the piston, it's how you use your injectors :)

Sparks are terrible. Picanto is a good buy though
