BT Games, Jack of all trades (master of none)

Party time! Excellent!
so BT's selling celphones on vodacom contracts as well now.... they can't even give half decent gaming customer service, can't imagine what a nightmare it'll be trying to buy a phone from the tits

To me it looks like you get a R250 BT Games voucher when you get that specific contract, it even says visit a Vodacom 4U store (in Gauteng) now. Don't see how you can conclude that BT Games now sell cellphones from that image.

Unless bt games has gotten over copyright infringements, I'm also seeing a Vodacom ad

EVERYONE sells cell phones these days... E V E R Y O N E!

Plus BT gets kickbacks on the contract and whenever that sim card is loaded with airtime they get a cut too.

I typed a long reply here that I deleted now after noticing that BT do actually advertise this deal in their own newsletter, but that still doesn't mean that they are now going to start offering these contracts in their stores. They obviously have some kind of mutually beneficial deal with Vodacom though.

You could also just getting another sim card after spending the voucher. Say what you want about their staff or whatever, but their games are usually cheaper than other brick-and-mortar shops (at least where I live) and they have good specials a lot of the time.

It's been a while since I bought anything from BT. It's been a while since I found anything interesting in their stores. Shopping online is just so much more convenient and hassle free. I know what I am getting and exactly when I am getting it.

I've been to worse places than BT Games. Their selection isn't bad for brick and mortar, but obviously Steam is better. I like GOG too.

They are actually better than the game shops in Pietermaritzburg, but I find Toysrus are better sometimes with getting the game on release date compared to BT games like when I got Pokemon: Mystery Dungeon Gates Of Infinity which I preordered long ago with Bt Games they never had stock on release day and only got it a week after so went and bought it from Toysrus instead.

Wish they would have their stock on release day.

BT Games, Incredible Connection and Look & Listen have the best selection where I am in CT. I don't bother with most of the other stores.

Least they close to you I have to travel an hour to Durban wish they had proper branches in PMB

Every single shop in PMB gets games like a month or more after release except for CNA dont get why since its close to Durban so shouldnt they get it around the same time :D.

I've bought a couple of games from the second hand bin at BT games. We could have worse to be honest. But still, Steam and GOG cover all the gaming you will need on PC. And for consoles, I honestly think Look&Listern has a bigger range... Well at least here in Pretoria.

BT Games do have cool stores, with lots of games (sometimes on special) at good prices. But their customer service is awful and the staff aren't the most knowledgeable bunch that I have ever met. Incredible also gets lots of flak (I can understand that, they aren't exactly cheap with other products), but I have to say that over the last two years or so, they have had nothing but awesome game sales and the Menlyn branch actually had two sales people (one of which was some form of manager) who knew lots about gaming and went out of their way to get a copy of a game for me.

That depends on which side of Pretoria. Here in the east, we have three good BT Games stores (which are really well stocked), including a Value Mart at Atterbury, in a 10km radius. Look & Listen are good, but sometimes they don't have a clue on how to price a game, especially older ones.

the only thing I would slightly consider buying from BT is the MTG stuff. somehow they sell their stock cheaper than most others. but honestly I would rather pay a bit more at Battle Bunker than have to deal with the staff at BT

Well I find that the staff at atterbury are really good (apart from that new girl), well stocked and willing to help, however they bitch about head office a lot which is where the issues lie IMO.

Maybe I'm lucky but I've normally had great service there, except for when I bought a pokemon deck through them, they changed their policy but not the email terms. Thankfully the manager at the store explained everything and made sure I got what I wanted soon.

The reason why BT are involved in this now is that they've seen the opportunity when it comes to mobile gaming, so when a customer loads their account up with a data bundle or airtime BT will get a small profit out of it since they have probably offered vodacom with some form of investment opportunity. People download a shitload of games on their phones, especially on Google Play store where most of the games are free and if they're not free they're set at a reasonable price.

SOOOOOO Yes it does look like if this takes off quite smoothly for BT as an investment turn for them, then we will see more things like this in the future... Just don't expect their amazing staff's attitudes to change though. I just about jumped over a counter and almost beat the shit within an inch of his life at the Northgate branch once... I can't stand those fuckers.

I have to admit I haven't been back to BT Games in over 3 years. I refuse to support a shop where they treat customers like idiots, when they are the idiots. I have a hate hate relationship with them. Especially since according to the Tygervalley staff, girls don't game.

I prefer to get my games via Steam and takealot these days.

Tygervalley BT is useless and the manager, Joe, is a git

Malice I wouldnt know who he is I just know I refuse to speak to the bald guy or any of the staff there. I was told that I shouldnt buy my bf games, just incase I get him the wrong thing - this was was when I enquired about ME3 Special Edition. When I said its for me, they laughed and ignored me. So I wont go back there ever.

I seriously hope you slapped him
Everything else aside, my local stores dudes are really cool - but I know BT has a habit of hiring the most infuriating people on the planet.
