Almost an MMO, more an action RPG with other people in it ;-P

Please give feedback!

Think Diablo 2 with super heroes (you can't make your own super hero) and you get the idea. You choose a super hero from your "stable", you start with 5 as you level 1 of them. More drop from bosses. Note that you level your hero, the others in your "stable" do not. You have to take them out and level them separately. Each hero has somewhat different combat mechanics, some sort of the same.

Halfway to max level (I think it is 40) you run out of story and then its full on grind from there to max on dailies. You basically do "nightmare" etc equivalent of D2/D3 farming, or you can just level another hero from scratch ;-P

Having a zone full of "Iron Men" and other marvel heroes seems really silly to me and I find it REALLY hard not being put off by that. Sure a zone full of "barbarians" or "Sorceresses" from D2 would be ok, but a 100 copies of the same signature Marvel hero in one place? Reality starts warping at that stage ;-P.

Having a Scarlet Witch called Boerewors is .... sort of weird.

Each of these have different names. If you have never played any children's MMOs then this will be a real stretch for MMO vets. I have seen this a few times in the kiddy MMO's I play with my daughter.

Just trying to close my eyes to the lore inconsistencies and having fun (for now) stomping and blowing things up and hitting the loot bags with legs.

Apparently the heroes are ridiculously expensive and the game has very mixed opinions atm. I will take a wait and see approach since I was never that interested in this title to begin with.

Well you get 5 and more drop apparently, so you can get them without paying a sent, although the big ones like Iron Man etc are pretty rare I hear. As for cost, cheapest hero is $9, most expensive $20 (Iron man, Cap America). So yes, expensive if you want to play them.

Personally, I don't see this game doing very well, heck you will run out of new things to do very very quickly. Sad really, so much potential.

I miss you City of Heroes *cry*.

That's the first problem I had with it. but then on the other hand, if you could create your own hero, it would just be another DCUO or Champions Online

Been playing it for a bit too. It's got the addictive Diablo'esque action RPG thing. I do however fear, the content might be lacking in the long run.

I'm not fond of the inventory/crafting nonsense (items not stacking , being forced to buy more bag space if you remotely want to consider crafting ).

I started with Daredevil and somehow got Hawkeye somewhere, so i've switched to Hawkeye , which is actually pretty fun. Daredevil not as great in comparison.

The open/public areas are interesting, but yea, seeing all the Hawkeyes/Storms/Things around is somewhat offputting, wish armor pieces could distinguish us somewhat. The public boss fights is very silly, can't really see or target the boss if there's 30 other players around spamming their stuff.

I'm still contemplating getting a more premium hero, like Thor or something , but yea the shop is very expensive. I didn't buy any "founders" packs this time, so i'm pretty much freeloading as far as i can hehe.

Aparantly the main story line is over by lvl 25, which leaves you like a crapload of levels to grind out with repetitive content, so i'm a little concerned with that.

At least there's a ton of variety, each Hero can be seen as a unique class, so i suppose the idea is to level different heroes through the same areas, rather than level 1 hero and sit at "end game".

Also, i had HUGE issue with the client patch/install/download from the Marvel site. I decided to wipe that and downloaded the Steam client, and that funny enough works like a charm. So if you see your client is download super slow and all that, get the Steam client, it's gonna download full speed and doesn't have the patching thing, the client is patched directly in the Steam client instead.

Same here, although, downloading the steam version for another 5 days is intimidating me to distraction, not sure if I should put up with the really crappy launcher or use steam.

Having fun, bought me a racoon, best thing I ever did, he is funny and fun. As for comic book lore in game, this pretty much sums it up:

Yea I played rocket racoon in beta, he is cool with the turrets, probably only hero that can do that. I got me Thor and ms marvel since I don't see a lot of those around and according to their stats they are quite strong (durability) for the price. Thor is quite beefy I must say, very much big on AOE though, I struggle some on bosses/strong single target, but groups of mobs is getting owned, a lot more fun than Hawkeye though. Ms marvel is somewhat strange, still can't figure out if she is meant to be melee or ranged hehe, but she is also very much built to take hits (her damage increase the more damage she takes)

I notice the non free heroes all got a special ability bar thing. Thor got a bar that fills up the more enemies are around him, certain abilities get extra effects when he discharge this bar. Ms marvel have the dps increase bar, works like a wow warrior meter that fills up as you fight and drains if you stop.

I think I will get some hours out of this game, even if I just level a bunch of different heroes.

Agreed, Racoon is perfect for me, I have always enjoyed healing classes (none of that in this game) and pet classes and he is the only pet class I can see.

If I can get her as a drop I would really like to play Jean Grey.

Raccoon is a support class indeed, and i'm very surprised with Cable. Do not underestimate that one, he's got auras that extend to party members, and a few AOEs that counts as party buffs and enemy debuffs/cc .

Here's a nice site to investigate the heroes and their powers.
