Edit: He is referring to me making a comment about his vague post about cheap comments for post count. He then gave me bad rep and I sent a PM and since that he's been getting more irrational (at least from my perspective)

I didn't 'miss' your point, I explained several times in private messages that your point is not only flawed, but that in calling me a hypocrite and handling the matter as you've done, you're no less of a hypocrite. So if anything, you're missing my point.


a) it is not a requirement of someone to explicitly quote the person they are replying to or mention their name when that person is the last one to have posted to a thread - if someone else's post happens to crop up before one's post is submitted and context is broken, the resulting post can be edited with a quote or a name added in for clarification
b) your complaints about 'thread necro' and 'spam' are nothing short of laughable given that I was not available for several days to reply to someone that had directly addressed me, and that you yourself, along with others, will gladly continue to maintain a thread necro yourselves - so why am I the one that gets picked aside for such behaviour?
c) you want me to take my reply to ichigo to another thread that addresses the same general topic, while I am partially addressing him in particular, why, exactly? So you needn't post in a different (the old) thread to partake in a conversation that doesn't necessarily include you anyway?

The above is essentially a rehash of my points raised with Ike_009 in private messages.



And InSanity, I think you're confusing yourself here. You're the one that got mad about my post, and now you're engaging defensive posting counter-measures to try and deflect..... nothing? You're an active user of the board. A bunch of the people that made it into the top50 with a LOT more points than realistic, on the other hand, aren't. When I said "and the others that learned how to best game the system", I was referring to those other people, not you - iow, no, I'm not 'jelly' nor 'mad', of/at you, because you actually deserved to win. I agree, I dislike very much reading through all the crap before getting to a useful on-topic post. This new competition format is only making it worse -.- . My guess is James was 'pressured' to get more traffic on the website by somebody in the higher ranks.

Put some work into your posts, even if it's a one-liner make it witty or something, from the stuff I see posted everyday I could swear those common afrikaner teenage girls can come up with more clever stuff.

I don't think this is a case of thread necro posting - the thread is still active for discussion around the competition, and it hasn't even been moved to the expired competitions section yet.

While I'm happy to allow people to air their differences for a bit, this seems to be degenerating into a pointless back and forth.

If it carries on like this I'll have to ask that the argument is taken to PM and I'll lock the thread to prevent it from flaring up again.

I believe the term I used was "borderline necro-posting/ spam" since the post was 5 days after the last post and had no reference to a previous statement nor did I feel it could add to the value of this thread as it could have to a newer thread with the same activity contest debate.

For anyone else that somehow becomes inexplicably confused at a post in response to someone where the post does not use a quote or explicitly mention a name, though, please visit a library, take out some English books and have a read. You may find that it happens often that there will even be characters who respond to something another character has said to them or asked them without an accompanying ", said/replied John". Because it's quite obvious that John happens to be the one replying to a question that was directed at him.

Forums may not be books or real-life conversations where John and Jane sit in a corner for 5 days before Jane responds to John, but if you miss some contextual cues of a conversation because you've elected to read a given post out of context, and then go on a mighty quest for epic superiority against the one who has offended your sensibilities, you may need to check yourself in at the nearest psychiatrist, as something might have shaken loose when the text from that post violently collided with your temporal lobe*.

In the private conversation with Ike_009, he indicated that he had gotten confused (upset) because I didn't explicitly mention Ichigo's name in my post replying to him (as the first post to follow his, in which he specifically addressed me) in lieu of using quotes to indicate who I was talking to. Specifically, he didn't like that I had given him negative rep for a post that I felt made a baseless statement and was uncalled for.

Which by the rationale Ike_009 was using in our private convo, would make you report/negative-rep-worthy.

The post in which I'd said he'd better report you was essentially to highlight, to him specifically, how and why he was being selective in who's posts he takes issue with and how and why he was no less a hypocrite than he was accusing me of being.

I posted in an active thread that showed up in the Today's posts search (btw, it's the only way to browse MyG, IMHO), I didn't necro anything. So explain again what I did wrong?
