Av

Ya i removed mse last night, trying that as well now. I read that malwarebytes has really good detection rates but the free version has no realtime

I used to use AVG (and loved it) until it started causing my pc to freeze. I then started using MSE, but then realised that it couldn't recognize a virus even it was labelled "virus" and had teeth.

Finally settled for Avira (paid version) which is one of the cheaper ones but basically on par with the likes of Kaspersky... Been using it for about 3 years now. Actually got it at a discount last year, so I renewed it for another 3 / 5 years up front. Think it was something like R500 for 5 PCs for 3 years or something.

i still have a issue on what Antivirus is the "BEST" I use Comobo firewall with avast.

dont think there will ever be the best Antivirus since one will always fail with a virus if its not up-to-date same with malware.

Would it matter what's the best, or would it matter how well it can protect your PC, ultimately?
As long as I'm protected, I don't really care what anti-virus I'm using.

I've been hearing a lot of good things about MSE, so it seems it has actually become really good lately.

I'm currently trying out a trial for Eset NOD32 though. I'm happy so far. Might buy it once it runs out.

Ones I would not recommend is Avast, AVG and Norton. Norton let a pretty major rootkit slip into my system a few months back and couldn't even detect it, much less do anything about it. Both Avast and AVG have destroyed my Windows installs in the past by deleting key Windows files that had become infected.

I have been using Avast for the last few years now. No problems encountered.
I used AVG before then, but it started giving me false-positives and removed exes from certain folders.

Avast is pretty much one of the best, and Comodo is a good firewall too. But even the best AV program is let down by the numpty sitting at the keyboard. Remember that. :)

I'm using avast. Only problem I have with it is that it keeps deleting my 8ta connect automatic update exe...
