Kerbal Space Program - Share your Experiences and Knowledge

FAILURE!!!! TOTAL AND UTTER FAILURE!!! And what was my downfall...I ran out of electricity. So, boys and girls of the forum, if you are starting out with Kerbal Space Program, make sure you add some sort of electrical supply and storage the space ships you design.

Screw it, I'll try tomorrow again:mad:

BREAKING NEWS: Kerbal Lands on the Mun

And here's the Dropbox link to the ship that got it there. (Might want to add a bit more RCS tanks...)

Haha! Congratz dude.

Last ship I built that was supposed to go to the moon didn't have enough fuel. Or well, it did, but the lander didn't have enough fuel to stop it from crashing into the moon in a fiery death :P

Now you should start colonizing the moon :D

And that just a week after I have bought the bloody game.

Just bought it and installed it now :D Luckily it used my demo download and just downloaded the rest.

Herewith a few vessel's I have built, All orbital, all dockable with large Docking port, will release vids of construction, orbit and docking, once i get my adsl installed end of the month.

Links don't work.

Hi sorry maybe try without httpS, let me know if they dont work.also ill post my mark 2 lane once I get the thing balanced doing 1400 m/s, at that speed the plane switches to crazy mode.

Love this game. Just got it the other day and already have more than 20 hours played. Too bad I still cant get into orbit every time. Keep experimenting with different rocket designs.

Try an asparagus Stage rocket setup! Very good for getting stuff into Orbit. Although the Staging can be tricky to work out once you get it i found it's one of the most efficient ways to get to orbit.

I've played over 70hrs since I decided to get it and I have failed to make a single docking!

I've sent orbital probes to about 3 different bodies, Mun, Duna and Minmus but can't seem to dock or rendezvous anything Scott Manley has had many views on his docking but it doesn't help :( I'll get there!

So currently I have 4 independent Orbiting Space station parts waiting to be docked... one day.... one day...

Here is a couple of pics from my recent mission. Building a motherfuggin' space station ya'll! :D

The pics are from it's humble beginnings all the way to what's it grown after the pull-craft, docking and garbage modules had been docked onto it.

All I can say is: Space is hard, man.

And here it is, in it's final form, for now :D. Still need to send up some fuel pods and extra living quarters. I'm aiming for about 8 Kerbonauts onboard the space station.6.jpg

Firstly, thanks for reviving this thread. I should have done it myself long ago.

Secondly, your station looks awesome dude. That middle section must have been a bitch to launch. I can just imagine how big the launch vehicle was. Will post some of my own Space Station tonight.

Did you do this in Career mode? Which mods are you using?

Thanks dude :D

I'm doing this in sandbox because not all the items work with the career mode.

I'm using:

B9 Aerospace
Firespitter (dependency for B9 A)
Infernal Robotics

B9 Aerospace has some damn sick parts. Everything from engines, awesome structural parts, cargo bays, wings etc. Infernal Robotics has moving parts- hydraulics, winches, rotaters, electro-magnets, hooks etc.

Ya dude, that mid section was a solid bitch. It was so damn heavy that I just barely managed to get it into orbit (even with minimalistic design and just enough fuel) and took me 2 tries to get a nice orbit.

I thought the base was going to be the hardest part. F**k me, was I wrong. The pull craft was easy, but then came the docking module and the garbage collection bay (that big section with the open bay doors). I spent 3 hours in flight and managed to get it docked with about 140 mono-propellant and 200 units of fuel. Took me about an hour from the rendezvous @100m to final docking......

I'm loving my space station though :D My next mission will be to send up some light fuel pods to refuel the whole ship and then I will be off to the moon to go rescue one of my Kerbonauts.

Lol great stuff. I myself play with B9. Here are some of the other mods I'm using:

KW Rocketry
RemoteTech
Infernal Robotics
Better Atmosphere
DMagic Orbital Science
Deadly Reentry
Ferram Aerospace
B9 Aerospace
Kerbal Engineer
Kerbal Alarm Clock
Procedural Fairings

Game takes about 5 minutes just to load everything, lol.

Strange that you struggled with the garbage collection bay. Maybe not enough RCS engines? I tend to try and keep my RSC evenly spread from the center of mass, as well as over it for better translation.

Looking at your Kerbal roster, you left Jeb on the moon...LOL!!! You have not yet played Kerbal Space Program is you've not left Jeb on the Mun.

Oh and at the moment I'm only playing in Career mode, so my ships are not as impressively big as yours, as I need to get science first.

Holy crackerballs, that's a kakload of mods. Does your game crash at all? I have a few crashes every now and again, which I'm not too sure what's causing it as I only have 3 mods.

"Strange that you struggled with the garbage collection bay. Maybe not enough RCS engines? I tend to try and keep my RSC evenly spread from the center of mass, as well as over it for better translation."

Nah I had more than enough RCS engines, just not enough mono-propellant. It was maneuverable as ghell, but each turn used up about what felt like 200 MP, because it was so big. LOL.

So I ended up having to dock my bay with about 100 units left, which equated to about 7 seconds of continuous bursting. Which lead to a lot of shouting and cursing. And you can imagine what the magnetic forces of the docking bays do to 2 huge objects in space...it was like playing apple bobbing in a barrel of superfluid helium.

As for Jeb...that poor man. He's probably running out of Mars bars. He's been chilling on the moon for a while now, I'm sure he'll be more than happy to get back to Urt, as Robbaz would say. :P

The career mode is fun, but unfortunately not all the mod parts work in there :(. So once the career mode has some more incentive to play, and has added mod support, I will continue there. For now, I'm just digging the sandbox.

I made a pretty cool VTOL craft as well what has rotating engines that you can slow the ship down or accelerate/de-accelerate in any direction. It's in my screenshots on my Steam profile.

PS. This game is too damn fun.
