Xbox One not in South Africa at launch

The worst thing about this whole saga is that even if you do manage to import your Xbox One, you would still have to log in once a day which I'm sure MS will see oh you're in SA "we will not continue to block your IP ranges" and the servers will also realize this and block you from playing region locked games. So this in essence is not a win win situation for us and like someone said it's a case of either PS4 or PC now. :)
unless you use an oversees vpn or dns to get around that problem, the same way to get netflix and hulu working.

But what a mission to go through when we've only just got XBox Live in SA (relatively) recently.

It's like we're taking a step backwards when we were finally getting at least some services locally

Well this isn't all bad news. Basically I'll just end up letting my XBOX live gold membership lapse and I won't worry about it again. When the PS4 launches I'll purchase it on day one and make sure that any and all "series" games (such as assassins creed etc.) are bought for the PS4. When the XBOX One finally (wishful thinking) launches in South Africa, I'll decide whether or not it's even worth it. Too bad for M$ though, because by the time they do launch the XBOX One, most South African households will own a PS4, and not many will see the need for owning both consoles. They've basically shot themselves in both feet, at least from a South African market point of view. Microsoft have made the choice very easy for consumers in this next-gen war.

It looks like Sony is geared up and ready to take back the console crown in South Africa, and I'll be part of that :)

Now that I think about it, the ONLY game that I'll really miss is Forza. Basically every XBOX 360 game I own has also been available on the PS3, and the PS3 exclusives I own are also way more impressive than the XBOX 360's? Damn, why the hell have I been paying more attention to my XBOX 360 to start with??? *eeeek*

Yeh but with Netflix and hulu you have to change your region settings since they can still trace back to you. I know this because we did it with my boss's netflix account and he ended up being blocked from using netflix

I agree that we are moving backwards here in the countries that are unfortunate enough to not be getting nice services, however MS don't really care what their consumers think as long as their pockets are filled each month.

Well at least south african console gamers will be homogenised and all game online on the PS4. Any informed person (gamers) will not buy the xbox.
