If your Live account gets banned, any games linked to it get lost as well.

Major Nelson said you would be able to play offline SP games if your account is banned. But who fucking knows, I doubt MS even knows at the stage the way they've handled everything so far.

Hopefully this will get rid of all the freeloaders that like to pirate everything.
