DayZ standalone alpha date set by developer

Exactly my thoughts when I read the announcement. We have set a date, maybe, sort of, kinda sometime soon but we did not actually set a date specifically. This summer or hopefully soon is not a date we can mark on the bloody calender.
 
This is way, way too late, imo. DayZ is old news. It will sell well, but not as well as it would have had they released it months ago as they should have. The stand-alone was originally slated for December last year. Now the DayZ fad has passed and only the biggest fans are really looking forward to this. The majority of other players will probably be entirely over the fad by now.

I personally don't believe its a fad. I updated my dayz recently after not playing for a while and the servers seem to be even more busy. I also personally know quiet a few people are are not playing the arma 2 version and are just waiting for the stand-alone. I also think they've taken far to long to release the standalone. But don't agree in calling it a fad. I think we will start seeing more mulitplayer games like it in the future, and most likely more refined versions.
