if we could wait almost 10 years for a diablo and duke nukem let down we can wait a bit longer for this :)
 
There's very few games that I could be simultaneously completely embittered and slavishly excited about.
 
Oh... My... Gawd!!! Please Valve please make it so. Just think, 2013 will then be the year where 2 new consoles comes out, there's a new GTA out, and Half Life 3 lives... What a year that would be...
 
After the whole saga that was DNF, I promised myself that I wouldn't ever get so attached to a game again -- especially a long overdue vapourware title. I was burned. If HL3 happens, sure, I'll be excited as anyone, but I'm not going to get my hopes up for it and risk having them dashed. I've just adopted more of a "I'll take it as it comes" attitude, and I'll just keep doing what I do, playing games I enjoy as often as I can.

Granted, that wasn't the expected response. I was supposed to say something like this:

You can add Starcraft 2 to that list. And it was worth the wait. :)

The result was a fake elevator control panel with funny names for various floors in their building. Following yesterday’s Half-Life 2 patch, a lot of people have become convinced that it’s all part of an elaborate scheme to reveal the long-awaited sequel.

It’s not. It’s a joke, in the part of the magazine where we do jokes. It was written by me and designed by one of our art editors, Julian. Here’s Julian’s desk and the InDesign file.

The massive update to Half-life 2 was just Korean, Portuguese and Thai localizations.

Same thing with Half Life - Black Mesa Source. We waited almost 10 years, once it was eventually released it was in the news for what, 2 weeks and then just quietly died.

That was actually an awesome game. I didn't beat it but they did a great job.
