Yea its been like this for some time now. End up finding a game but then it gets stuck at finding server, almost like all the servers are full or its not spawning another one for people to play on. I've heard that Mweb are aware of the issues, but can't really figure out why this is happening.
Last night I tried the SA servers, first game "find match" and "find server" was quite quick, but the game I experienced horrible lagg after about 6 minute of play.
The second match, "find match" was about average, and then the "find server", the timer reset twice, once on 2:50 and the other on 5:40. Got a server on the third try at about 1:58.
I think I will stick with East Europe.

I had a similar problem the other day, but you choose to play with semi russians? I chose western rather even though it seems to also have a rather large amount of russians playing.

The lag has been unbearable the last few days - it's like I'm watching a slideshow. I get about 200ms playing on the EU servers, but then it spikes to 600ms.
Bonus: I lagged out of a game, and no matter what I tried, couldn't reconnect to the server. Thought "oh ffs, here comes another abandon!", but Dota Buff credited me with the win (at 50% now), and Steam gave me a nice Razor trading card!
Re: server choices. I queue for the SA and all Euro servers: ping is the same, regardless. Where I used to connect to the local server with 40ms, it's now over 200ms all the time (Mweb's way of saying "fuck you, use us as an ISP or don't play on our server" - an Mweb-using friend of mine still connects with the old latency). And yes, I play on the Russian server now, too. Surprisingly, there are more English-speaking players than Russians!

Is there a noticeable ping difference between europe and russia?

My point though is the east should still have russian-ish players since eastern Europe has all the former Russian states.

What do you want to be better? the lag or the Russians? lol. Because only the Russians are better at this point

How long has lag been an issue? i haven't experienced any problems, but i haven't played in the last couple days.

I don't know about that, the extended beta period should help alleviate any issues- if any- that would arise from a conventional release. The game's pretty much complete (with a few heroes to be added of course)
