The Last of Us 9.8/10

This could possibly be the best game I've ever had the pleasure of playing and calling it a game is actually doing TLOU a disservice. It's an experience that I wish everyone could try out because TLOU transcends the medium into something so special.

Naughty Dog have now proven to be the best developer around. The story, the setting, the gameplay, it all comes together to make one of the best paced games around.

Definitely a game I'm going to be thinking back on for years to come. My game of the year so far. :)

Agreed, when a game can make you emotional in the first 15 minutes it will be something to remember.

City Legends (Android) - 4/10

Just started playing this game. It's a sim and another version of city building. It looks polished but fails to impress as it relies a lot on my re social networking side of things. In order to get to certain levels, I am required to make and/or acquire friends, rate others, etc. Meh. Even some of the things built look disjointed, like the roads don't join up in places. Another meh.

I'll carry on playing it but doubt it's going to get much better. If anyone knows of a decent city building game in Android, please feel free to recommend something.

Word Hero (Android) - 9/10

I love word games. Especially games like Spell Tower which I've played are the sort of thing I like.

This one is all about a time limit and making a many words as you can in the alloted time. Each letter has a points value - similar to Scrabble. So it's a 4x4 table with letters to make words.

This game is internet only as you are playing against other people from around the world. At the end of time your score is ranked against the others playing.

What I also like is the fact that the game keeps your record of average scores, best score, best word, etc. Also just seen that you get placed into different leagues, ie. silver or gold.

Been playing this a while now on and off, but really enjoying it. If you like word games, give this a try.

Scrolls : 8/10

It's a great idea.
Take Magic the Gathering, now grind it using a mortar and pestle.
Add a pinch of Might & Magic combat mechanics.

Pour in a simple but sleek mold. Bake until fun.

That's pretty much summing it up. The three colors have unique mechanics and play styles.
The currency rewards for winning games is just enough to be a great incentive.
Worth a play.

Hitman: Absolution - 8/10

I recently got this game on a Steam special since I "missed" it at launch. First up, I've never really been a fan of the Hitman series, nor have I played the previous games all that much. So this game was a new start for me.

First up, the story was actually rather good. I got sucked into it quickly, but would have benefited from knowing some back story I believe.

The game itself is a bucket load of fun. The mechanics and gameplay is something more unique than I'm used to, and enjoyed it thoroughly. The graphics is also very pretty, but there's a bit too much lens flair for my taste. Also, NPC's in game are not good looking up close and personal.

Overall I am enjoying my time with the game, and I can see myself playing it for a bit longer. There are some nice replay incentives, and I am yet to try the multiplayer aspect of the game.

Sleeping Dogs 7.5/10

Surprised me. Graphics are excellent especially the rain effects. I prefer it to GTA 4 as the story is more coherent. Very violent game and yes it's far fetched at times but I enjoyed it.

I'm a massive Hitman fan! I hated the instinct mode because in the other one's you didn't have any of that. And you had to explore the enviroment to find the shiz. Not press a button to see through walls and see EVERY useful thing. Luckily I played it on purist so I didn't have to deal with it.. The other problem was some of the levels. Which were a bit linear in comparison to Blood money. But it was awesome and I liked it a lot.

Castle Crashers : 9/10
Nothing beats a poop powered deer running from a monster :D
And a panda riding on a giant cat coughing up hairballs to try to kill you... awesomeness oO

I finished Infamous this weekend, not bad did not like it at first but it kind of grew on me :)

I will give it a 7/10. but i must say that i did not like GTA much and this reminded me of GTA, thus the low score.

Galaxy on fire 2 HD

Probably the best game i have played on my iPad and i cant wait to play the expansion packs. The game reminds me of the old school space sims that we just dont see anymore

You might not have had instinct mode in the other Hitman games, but you could still see where every single guard, NPC and item of interest was with the press of a button. I don't know why people made such a fuss about the instinct mode, it was there all along, it just worked differently. You could open a map of the area and see everything on the level, even instinct mode doesn't show you the whole level like that did, if I remember correctly. I don't know about you, but I used that map quite often to see where enemies were so I could plan my approach.

Not being a Hitman fan or a veteran, I liked the instinct mode and used it a lot through the game. I would like to go back now a replay the other games, and for me that's one of the great things the game accomplished; it made me a fan.

Tomb Raider - 8.5/10
It may be fairly linear and scripted in places but for me it worked. I quite enjoyed the story and especially Lara's progression as a character. There was also still enough of that Tomb Raider feel with a fair bit of exploration here and there.
As an overall experience I really enjoyed the game - it had me hooked from start to finish. Also the game looks fantastic!

Saints Row 2

Saints Row 2

Story
8.5/10

A continuation from its predecessor.
Story was fun, serious, interesting and kept you wondering "So - what's next?"
Some sad moments, some happy moments.

Overall, I liked the story. Johnny Gat is Awesomeness! He's got this serious/crude humour (that really cracks me up).
There are some people in this game you won't like, and some you'll really like a lot.

Gameplay
9/10

Gameplay in Saints Row 2 is a helluva lot of fun. You can do almost anything.
Fly helis and basejump.
Climb on a quad bike and destroy as many obstacles in your way as possible by knocking into cars, barrels, people. light poles. Pretty much anything knockable; all in order to keep your time from expiring - for cash and respect.

You can play as a cop chasing down crooks and gang fights in and around your vicinity using a range of weapons and methods in which to do so - for cash and respect.

You can pick up hookers and bring them back to their pimps for cash and respect.

Also side-missions having you run into traffic and being hit by as many cars as you can until you fill up your Adrenaline Meter; and once filled - being knocked by a car will send you hurdling through the air, really racking up those points. Using your movement keys, allows you to nudge your character (while in the air) from car to car. The more cars you hit, the greater amount of points will be received. It's so damn hilarious to do - and of course, all this for cash and respect.

There's even Drug Trafficking. You and (the driver/dealer - introduced to you in the begin of the mission) drive to set locations and the dealer sells the drugs while you protect them form cops and/or other gangs trying to stop the operation - as stated above, for cash and respect.

Overall, just some of many fun side-missions to do in this game.

Sound
7/10

Sound is good, not great.

Gun shots sounds are not that bad.
Pistol sounds like a pistol, SMG sounds like an SMG.. and so on and so forth.

Soundtrack - a nice variety of Rap, Rock, Electronica Classical and so on.
Admittedly however, I not keen on the Rock in this game - just does not appeal to me.

Vehicles sound fine, but, most sound like they're stuck in 3rd gear when travelling full speed.

Little disappointed that it does not support 5.1 Surround Sound

Graphics
7/10

Nothing exceptional, but, for what it's worth, it looks good.
Clothing looks decent (of which there are many, many kinds). And the ability to mix and match layers to your personal preference.
Character customisation is extensive. Can customise at least every aspect of your body. Manipulate your entire appearance; facial and bodily - extensively.

Respect Meter

In Saints Row 2 you have what's called a Respect Meter or Respect Bar.
You need to fill up the multiplier in order to do Strongholds or Mission.
So, if you have a 2x multiplied respect you can do 2 missions or strongholds, which ever you desire, in whichever fashion you prefer.

Strongholds - There are 3 gangs in Stilwater apart from your gang (the 3rd Streets Saints, and a company named Ultor Corp - no spoilers).

Every gang has a certain set of missions, however - before certain missions can be completed; it is required for you to do a Stronghold.

Stronghold, as the name suggests, is one of a number of "pillars of strength" that keep the gang's operation afloat; prostitution, smuggling - you name it.

Once these Stronghold have been taken out, it weakens the gang, whereby allowing you to properly, easily and more effectively eliminate a gang.

Voice Acting
7/10
Good, but not GTA or Mass Effect level.
Got some famous actors for the voice acting, which was a benefit for the game.

Bugs

Saints Row 2 definitely has its fair share of bugs. Pop-ups are frequent. Cars can get stuck in other cars; in fences lampposts - hell! Even humans. Sometimes you'll drive around with a corpse jumping around in the vehicle if you have killed them for the car, and climb into the car while they're just laying there - lifelessly.
Movement keys will just sometimes stop working. You'll have to remove your finger from the key/button and depress it again.

Overall

Saint Row 2 is a very fun open-world sandbox game.
Some of the cutscene intros to mission and movie-like quality. Some amazing action sequences.

This game will (if played on PC) require a relatively good system. At least quad core or better (for mostly smooth all-round gameplay).

It's definitely one of my favourite open-world sandbox 3rd person action shooters out there!

The last of us 9.5/10

The graphics was/is AMAZING and I really like the whole Jungle in the city theme most places have.

The Dialogue and Story was absolutely brilliant. I had a emotional roller coaster while playing it, and in the end I cared immensely for the characters especially Ellie.

The gameplay was varied and I enjoyed the combat a lot.

The only problem is the AI I played on normal difficulty and the enemy's were pretty stupid imo.

One of the best games I've ever played :D

Grid 2
7/10

I've been playing this for a couple of days (PS3) and I absolutely love it. I won't give it near perfect marks because there are a couple of issues and it definitely isn't a ground breaking title IMHO.

Problems: well I'm not a graphics nut and even though the game looks good it is nothing new. It is what I expected it to be really. Then the very first time the game is loaded my friend and I both had the controllers on and the game forced me to drive and finish a race alone before we both could play split screen. The split screen menu was not easy to find either :/

Positives: I loved GT5 but it this as a more arcade/fun feeling to it. Power sliding those muscle cars around the track is awesome fun and the damage the car takes and the effects thereof is awesome! The career mode is great fun as well especially all the different race modes.

And then there are the tracks which are in new and exotic locations (well, for me at least). You get to drive through Chicago, Dubai, Forests in America and and Japan and on proper race tracks.

Overall - great game to play when you're not in the mood to think too much about what you are doing :)
