Online specials: Steam, Greenman Gaming, GamersGate, etc

Unless it is an eagerly awaited title(Like MK9, Fifa, PES for example), I promised myself last month that, I will no longer buy any games day 1, because it usually takes me frikken 1-2 years to play the damn thing.

Eg: I only started playing and finished SC3 Ep1 in Jan 13, Played and finished Crysis 2 in Jan 13.

I still have not touched Skyrim, Grid 2, The Witcher 2, Battlefield 3, Batman Arkham City, DMC, Hitman, Crysis 3 etc. It is a case of too many games and so little time.

If I wait until the Steam sale not only does my "games to still play" library decrease but I also save a small fortune every year.

I hear you. :) You know when it really gets bad is when you get to a sale and you realise all the game you would actually want to buy you already own. ^_^

Half Life Complete Pack (All of the HL games) are on SALE! 75% off. This is a perfect deal for those like me who still haven't played the games. They probably won't go cheaper in the summer sale (usually Valve games stay at 75% off), so what are you waiting for, go and get it :D.

I wonder, is there anyone who still doesn't have Half Life 2? With all the steam specials, coupons and giveaways, Half Life 2 is probably one of the games that most PC gamers have.

Imagine that as a surprise Valve releases Half Life 3 (or Episode 3) on Friday to go with the Summer Specials. And that's why they have the Half Life specials now. :D

I know chances are slim but hey, we can dream. :)

I don't think any company will ever release a game without hyping the hell out of it first. We'll be very lucky if we even get an announcement.

That's just it though. Valve doesn't need to hype Half Life 3. Just releasing the game without anyone knowing would cause more hype than any game ever. :D It would be amazing.

I think you would be surprised how much difference marketing makes. I'm sure there are a lot of hardcore Valve followers that will pick up the game as soon as it goes on sale, but the large majority of people won't even know about it if they don't advertise it. I mean we have people on this very forum that don't even use Steam, and these people call themselves gamers :wtf:

Valve are appearing at Gamescom in August this year. They've been allocated a booth, so they'll definitely be doing something there. Hopefully they'll announce something, some people are saying that it'll be "steambox" related, while others say that it'll be something to do with Half Life, I guess we'll see soon.

Hopefully it'll be both :p

I would bet on it being Dota 2 related.
